Nice workman like effort for UConn tonight. Everyone hustled and really worked hard. UConn will need to bring that type effort every game this year to help make up for what the team is lacking in overall level of skill.

The squad looked relaxed but played hungry. It's a very long season but a great start, especially if the Huskies can carry through and sweep the Raiders tomorrow. The power play finally looked organized and comfortable in the diamond formation with decent puck movement. There wasn't a player who had a bad game, but on Janviriya and Nyberg impressed me on D for totally different reasons - mobility and smarts from Jan and size and reach from Nyberg but with mobility.

It was interesting seeing Whitcomb play with the approximate build of Wood and the same number. He may not be as talented, especially the hands, but he has a decent shot and the better thing is that he hustles, which is something Wood rarely did.

The team looks comfortable out there with good overall speed, and maybe with expectations low they can fly under the radar for awhile.

Only one game but the energy and chemistry seems to be improved from last season. Really good performance.

Just seems the team has a different feel from last year with certain players no longer with the program

Goaltending is going to be the question mark moving forward. Some shaky moments and big rebounds left out there

Nyberg’s size and reach combined with his skating is going to be a force out there if he stays for a couple more seasons.

Good get by Peruzzi

I went to the game last night and was happy to see how aggressive UConn played, they were gritty. Quick to the puck and put a whole bunch of shots on goal. I was amazed at the amount of empty seats for a sold out opening night, it is frustrating.

It was a great opening night win…but darn, the empty seats are painful. I’m in 122 and in my row, only 5 seats out of 15 were occupied. Lots of folks with season tickets aren’t using them. It was a great performance…just want to see more butts in the seats tonight.

Great start for the young Huskies last night. One game doesn’t make a season But it was a blessed relief to see everyone hustling on every shift. Clearly a faster squad than last year AND nobody skating slow and hogging the puck was a great change from something we saw much too much of last season. Didn’t miss last years absolutely stupid roughing penalties either. Hope we see more of the same tonight.
Expect a light crowd…football game at 3:30 will keep the numbers low…

An absolute gift from the Colgate goalie helps UConn tie it at 1

Toe drag by Muldowney to Richard on a 2 v 1 gives UConn lead 2-1
