As we wait for tomorrow, and for the rain to stop, two thoughts:

1. While we’re off today, I’ll be keeping an eye on the Xavier series at Creighton which starts tonight. Even if we sweep Butler we need Creighton to drop one more game so that we could be co-champions and the second seed, and two more so we are outright champs. They play three conference games next weekend as well, but they are more likely to lose this weekend then next weekend.

2. Assuming no early departures of key players to the draft or NIL, we would be in far, far better shape with known returning personnel next year than we’ve been in a long, long time. Including all three current weekend starters. O.K., now back to focusing on this year

Yes. Creighton/X game tonight will be must see tv as we wait for tomorrow. I'm actually looking forward to it.
 
So X’s hopes for an at large bid are on life support. It almost certainly has to win out the regular season to have a shot. Creighton, on the other hand, is now 5 wins away from a solo conference championship even if we win out.

No big surprise that Pudvar is the starting pitcher for UConn in the 1st game today.
 
Bottom 1st, a no out walk for Rispoli followed by a Shpur single. With no outs the runners advance a base due to a wild pitch, both runners now in scoring position. A no out infield single by Daniels drives in a run and puts runners on the corners. 1-0 UConn.

A no out walk by Minick loads the bases. This is followed by Biller getting hit by a pitch bringing in a run, 2-0 UConn.

With 2 outs, MacArthur hits a grand salami!! 6-0 UConn.

Top 2nd, after a 1 out walk, Pudvar has a scoreless inning that ends with a line drive double play. 6-0 UConn.
 
Everyone has reached so far this inning, but two runners get out on the bases. Damn…

We do score on back to back doubles. 7-0
 
Bottom 2nd, again Rispoli leads off with a walk. Rispoli is caught trying to steal 2B for the 1st out. Shpur follows with a 1 out infield single. Shpur steals 2B, but is caught trying to steal 3B for the 2nd out. Daniels and Minick have back to back doubles driving in a run, 7-0 UConn.
