UConn v. #23/#24 USF @ J.O.C - Friday 5/11 (Doubleheader) @ 11a & Saturday 5/12 @ 11a

Hopefully we have enough to make it to the tourney, but ultimately it will be the offense that will be our undoing. Pitching has been great, but we just can't score enough.

8th inning, Poulin allows a 2 out hit in the process of getting a scoreless inning.

Poulin stays in to start the 9th. Guessing he will not start one of the two midweek games. Who will it be, possibly Sam Nepiarsky?

Sure enough, right after I posted this, Chris Jones starts speculating on the midweek starters.

USF wins 2-0. Husky bats very quiet throughout. Still, UConn needed two wins coming into this series, and got them. Now they got to get some wins in the midweek.

Abysmal offense, however have to feel good for the USF pitcher with what he has gone through.

Good series win. USF's pitcher was dealing today, tip of the hat. UConn has Northeastern, URI, and 3 v ECU remaining. Gotta put hay in the barn in these 5 to try and secure an at-large spot.

Well, at least w/ the weather anticipated schedule movement - they grab a day off before B2B games next week,

Houston shutout Tulane 4-0
UCF took out Cincy 3-1
Memphis ahead of ECU 7-0 through 7

Do we view today's Tulane-Houston game as a no lose (either we end up one game out of first or one game further ahead of Tulane) or a no win (either Houston stretches their lead on us or Tulane creeps closer)?

UCF, Houston and Tulane all hold tie-breaker over us. In my mind - it's all about AAC Tourney seeding @ this point.

UCF and USF play this week. So as long as UConn wins minimum 2 games, they're in an excellent spot for at least 3rd

I think I would have preferred Houston to beat Tulane, giving UConn a bigger lead on the Green Wave for 4th place in the league. That would have given the NCAA selection committee a nice split between the top half and the bottom half of the league, both in terms of league records and RPI. Of course, Tulane beating Houston gives UConn a better chance of moving up in the standings next week. Aside from UConn playing East Carolina, USF and UCF play each other in the final week of AAC play, so that will make things interesting at the top of the league. Houston plays Cincinnati at home.
