UConn v. #23/#24 USF @ J.O.C - Friday 5/11 (Doubleheader) @ 11a & Saturday 5/12 @ 11a

South Florida makes a pitching change after the first two Husky batters walk in the 7th inning. Toppa up.

Feldstein gets a bases loaded RBI groundout to make it 4-2 UConn, now 2 out.

Villar has kept USF alive. Great play to save the Susi heater, and UConn gets that run back. 4-2

Love our offense the past couple of innings. USF has just been incredibly good defensively.

Story of the day was the terrific pitching UConn got, particularly from its starters Cate and Feole. When UConn starting pitchers come up with these type of games, the Huskies can win a lot of games.

Everything was good today. The bullpen was good, the offense hit the ball harder than our run production indicates, and I do not remember a single error. Penders also did a nice job with the pen management.

Huskies Sweep Doubleheader Over No. 23 USF

Notes:
  • John Russell tied a single-season record, set by Kevin Vance ('11), with his 13th save of the year in game two of the doubleheader.
  • UConn is 10-2 at J.O. Christian Field this season and 7-1 against conference foes.
  • UConn moves to 5-0 against top 25 opponents this season (3-0 against ECU, 2-0 USF). The last time the Huskies knocked off a top 25 opponent at home was 2010 against No. 19 Rutgers (April 23-24)
