Top 6th, the UConn offense has a scoreless inning after a 1 out single by Root, his 3rd hit of the game. Root is thrown out trying to steal 2B for the final out of the inning. 5-1 UConn.

That call on Grant looked debatable to me, but UConn didn't ask to have it reviewed. I didn't think Grant leaned into pitch so he was called out. But I guess that I'm wrong.

After giving up a HR on the very first pitch of the game, then to hold a powerful offensive team scoreless the rest of the way. Kudos to the pitching staff. Big time win and that will help come selection Monday. Also, Root has done well in his limited time, may need to see more ABs going forward.
 
Nice performance by pitching staff. Good to see that Hamberger has shown improvement since first appearance. Still too many walks. Fortunately, Shaw's three walks in 8th didn't score. Pitch of the game was Brady's to end the eighth.

Can't blame Root for being thrown out at home as Biller fell down between second and third and forced Root to try to score.
