UVA just lost 2 out of 3 to a mediocre Georgia Tech team. If Vegas put out odds for college baseball we would probably be small favorites.

Their guy has a 2.08 ERA despite a spicy 8/9 strikeout to walk ratio. Regression time!

One thing this team does well is put the ball in play...it doesn't seem like we strike out much. It is easy to take for granted but putting the ball in play applies pressure on the defense. I wish both the teams I follow could put the ball in play but alas.

That's 9 walks and 7 hits in 8.2 innings for the Virginia starter, freshman Zach Messinger. He's had 4 appearances with 2 midweek starts. Sounds like it could be the ingredients for another long game.

I hope the AD will be taking notes on this beautiful on campus stadium

Obviously, this is a huge start for Dunlop personally. Looked fine in his 2 relief appearances, after being just not good in his starts. If he's terrible again today, I'm not sure he's getting more looks as a starter.

Somehow, UConn’s not-arriving-soon-enough new President may have a wee bit of awareness of the Wahoos’ 5,500 seat diamond.

Ha! I didn’t even think about that connection...

I agree. While I doubt he will go long into the game (like Haus and Wang over the weekend, I think the coaching staff will be very happy if he gets into the 5th inning), he needs to show some effectiveness while he is in there on which to build on in possible future starts.

No Pat Winkel - have to wait for Jonesie’s words of wisdom to see what ails him.

Woodworth gets plunked by a pitch to start the third, and Prato follows with a walk. This freshman was not ready to start vs a team like us. 2 on, no one out.

I had game on computer and muted due to being on conference call - any mention of why Pat Winkle is out of the line-up (nagging injury vs DNP-CD)? Didn’t have chance to dial up WHUS @ beginning.

Also at work so I have no idea. Will try to find out what happened when I get out.

Gametracker froze -_-

I didn’t hear them mention anything. I’m guessing just a day off with a big weekend series coming up. I saw him standing right next to the coaching staff in the dugout.

3rd inning. Bases loaded, no out, and Toppa gets picked off for the first out. Christian Fedko walks to reload the bases.

Heard it on the way home from work. Pat Winkel sitting out with a hip flexor injury, they hope he will be available this weekend against Houston. Chris Jones did say he is available to pinch hit.
