The UConn baseball team travels to Kingston, R.I. to take on the Rhode Island Rams on Tuesday, May 14 at 3:00 p.m. The game will be on WUCS 97.9 FM ESPN Hartford and 1300 AM WAVZ New Haven while also be streamed on iHeartradio.com.

The one thing we have consistently done well this year is take care of business in these games. Keep it up.
 
Prato walks, Woodworth infield single, Pat Winkel w/ double to left makes it 1-0 UConn w/ 1 out.

Wang works around two baserunners (one thrown out @ plate by Prato) but keeps Rhoady off the board. 3-0 UConn after 3

Wang @ 31 pitches. URI pitcher @ 49
 
B3 Simone comes in w/ 1 out (K), and man on first (HBP).

Not really sure why - Wang was @ 40 pitches.

Simone gets a K then gives up a double to left.. men on 2nd and 3rd - two out.

Simone walks a batter to load bases but gets a comebacker to mound to get out of inning w/ no damage. 3-0 heading to T4
 
Nucerino walks and advances to 2nd on bunt by KFed. Chris Winkel single makes it 4-0 Huskies in T4.

Colby Dunlop coming in to relieve Simone after a 1 out BB in B5

Dunlop bobbles bunt and is late w/ throw to 1st. Men on 1st and 2nd w/ 1 out.

No radio. Real bummer for me, especially with the drive home from work.

When I saw that Jimmy Wang was getting the start, I had a feeling that since he pitched on Saturday, that this would be a short start, and that Simeone would be coming in around the 3rd inning. I think they are thinking short starting stints are better for Wang at this point.

Gets out of inning w/ b2b Ks to limit damage.. 4-2 heading to the 6th.

Interesting that Conor Moriarty got the start at 3B. Is the Thad Phillips experiment over again?

Wurster in after runner reaches (BB) w/ two outs, runner steals second and then Moriarty throws one away to first. Run scores 5-3. Grounder to Prato ends inning. Headed to T7.

Hitting the ball much better this game. That's good as a loss would hurt our RPI.

Chris Winkel now has 4 triples on the year, after none last season. He also has 12 doubles, which is one more than last season. In a season that is until now been one of decline for him, those two power categories are the two offensive areas where he is better than last year.
