-> “This is what we’ve worked for, this is what we’ve been looking forward to since Jan. 16 when we started practicing,” said defensive lineman Jelani Stafford. “It’s just a blessing to be here. These guys show up to work every day. We used to get slammed on Twitter and in the media, but these guys never tucked tail. We never give up. That’s just a testament to the culture Coach Mora has brought here and all the things they’ve done to get us prepared to be where we are at now <-

Looked like much less than that on tv.
10k sounds pretty accurate - cold day, home team is 2-9. UConn brought lots of fans so that helped.

-> Some programs use bowl games to prepare for the following season. Mora has no intention of doing that.

“I hear coaches say things like that all the time, ‘it’s good for the younger guys,'” Mora said. “I ain’t worried about that. I want (to win for) guys like that dude (Jelani Stafford) right there, we want to have practices so we can go out and win a bowl game. We’ve got all kinds of time to practice in the spring and the fall and a whole offseason. We are going to practice as if it’s a regular season game and try to get win No. 9.” <-

This guy was such the right choice! You could tell he was ticked about last year and he did something about it.

Much like Cincinnati in 2011. Cinci coaching staff in short sleeve shirts also.

On Senior Day with everything to win and everything to lose, UConn, in high tech cold weather gear, stunk and let a bowl appearance slip way. HCPP did nothing to motivate the team and spent most of the game staring at the ground in frustration.

Today the script is flipped. Hopefully!!!! Huskies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It’s good to see how you can let the past go so easily - even 13 short years later.

T. J. Weist was the Cinci OC in that game. Short sleeve shirt. Easy to remember though. It was cold, and with everything to play for, UConn threw a turd in the punch bowl.

I think that was the year that the Courant UConn FB beat writer (whose name I have forgotten) wrote a front page article at the start of the season and profiled three fans. I was the first one profiled in the article. Got a lot of good-natured flack for that at work. Lucky I had taken the day off that day and was not in the office.
