Popped up to end the inning. Winkel is hitting in the same general range as last season, just a little lower. His power is up a little. However, the big problem for him is his on base percentage is down a bunch from last season. Before the game it was at .269, which is pretty poor in my book. 3 walks on the season will do that to you. To me the most significant offensive thing in baseball for a player is the ability to get on base, so that is no small thing.

Agreed. His main problem is his impatience, not his eye for the zone. On that pop-up, he swung at the first pitch he saw.

You've said it before, but if he can hit in the .250 range, and draw walks like he has in the past, he is a valuable player. In that case he plays right field and Kyler Fedko becomes pretty much the full time D.H. That move also improves the UConn defense.

I completely forgot Johnson existed; odd considering how solid this bullpen is.

This team isn't as talented as the Springer clubs, but because of the depth I feel it is better constituted to potentially get to Omaha.
