UConn @ Tulane (Thurs. 5/16 @ 7:30p ET, Fri. 5/17 @ 7:30p ET & Sat. 5/18 @ 2p ET)

Two run homer makes it 3-0 Tulane, still one out. Simeone has been warming in the pen.

After another walk, Polonia comes out, Simeone in to pitch. The first of many pitching changes today. One out, 3-0 Tulane.

Simeone stays in to start the bottom of the 2nd. Kenny Haus warming in the pen.

Chris Jones says Mason Feole will not start on Tuesday in the AAC tourney.

Bottom 2nd, two out single with two runners on base brings in a run. 4-1 Tulane. Pitching change, Kenny Haus coming in.

Feels a lot like game 3 vs Wichita.

UConn got what it wanted and needed with the series win, so they went with a staff day to get ready for Clearwater. Staff days against good hitting clubs like Tulane are always a gamble. This is going to be a long, long game.

Kenny Haus still on the mound at the start of the bottom of the 3rd.

.-.
Tulane solo homer to lead off the bottom of the 3rd. 5-1 Tulane. Fourth homer off of Haus this season in about 23 innings.

We really should have more than 1 run by now. We brought a store brand plastic knife to a gun fight.

Johnson gets two outs to end the bottom of the 3rd. 5-1 Tulane.

Chris Jones saying that Karl Johnson during fall ball was being groomed to be a starter, and possibly the Sunday starter, but was never consistent enough to be given the actual task. Have to imagine that Johnson being a starter is a possibility next season.

There have been many options at D.H. besides Gozzo, so that is one factor. For instance, Pat Winkel often is at D.H. when he is healthy and not catching. The other factor is that Gozzo seems to do better at the bat with spot starts and coming off the bench. When he gets in the lineup for a few days in a row his bat seems to start disappearing. Next season Gozzo won't have to share backup catcher duty with Thad Phillips, He'll probably still be coming off the bench, but that should get him a little more playing time.

This is spooky. Chris Jones just came up with the same observation on Paul Gozzo, that his bat starts to tail off when he is in the lineup for more than a couple of days.

Top 4th, UConn bats go down 1-2-3.

Either you are both observant or Chris carefully reads the 300+ post threads posted on the boneyard. Wouldn't surprise me if it's both.
