Going to game today. 1st time in Tulane ballpark. Is right at edge of campus near new football stadium. Haven't been much of a good luck charm for football or basketball teams, hope is different for baseball.

Dream season: Tulane series vs. UConn last chance to see record-breaking Kody Hoese at home

>>He is tied for the national lead with 23 home runs after hitting five as a sophomore and zero as a freshman. His next long ball will move him ahead of Chad Sutter and into sole possession of second place in Tulane’s record book, trailing only Jason Sparks’ 30 homers in 1998 at the apex of the gorilla-ball era.

Hoese leads the NCAA with 173 total bases. He is in line to break James Jurries’ 20-year-old school record of 194 if the Wave, which needs to beat UConn twice to hold on to second place in the AAC, plays four games at the league tournament next week.

Hoese is hitting an AAC-best .403, threatening to become the sixth player at Tulane to crack the .400 barrier. He paces the league in seven categories, including hits (85), runs scored (67), on-base percentage (.496) and slugging percentage (.820).<<

Tulane: Baseball Closes Regular Season With UConn
Tulane Game Notes for UConn

Projected Pitching Matchups:

Thursday: LHP Mason Feole (2-3 3.25 ERA) v. RHP Kaleb Roper (6-4 4.97 ERA)

Friday: RHP Jeff Kersten (5-3 4.28 ERA) v. RHP Keagan Gillies (2-3 7.21 ERA)

Saturday: TBA v. RHP Chase Solesky (5-3 5.49 ERA)

For the Saturday game, I'm guessing we will see a continuation of the staff day, with Jimmy Wang pitching 2 or 3 innings followed by Joe Simeone and others.

This is a tough but winnable series for us. If we are serious about making it to a regional, we actually need to take a road series down the stretch.

Chris Jones says Kyler Fedko is out of the lineup tonight with a bad back. Thad Phillips not with the team this weekend, he's in California attending to family stuff.

Top 1st, lead off single for Toppa, but that is it for the UConn offense. No score.

Interesting. Tulane gotta win the conference tourney to get in. Hopefully that works in our favor this weekend.
