UConn trading card thread

Took my kid to his first sports card and memorabilia show today. Less smokey than the ones I used to go to at the Milford Knights of Columbus but holy cow there were a ton of tables.

A lot of Philly geared stuff but sifted through some boxes and found these.

Went to a Philly card show in ~1998 and they hade Mike Quick, Pete Rose, and a bevvy of other era-specific players. Two specific memories:

1) It was at the JW Marriott and the room service rivaled the restaurant experience.
2) Pete Rose hitting on my at-time fiancee in the elevator up to our respective floors. Yeah, man of the people indeed.

UPS says Panini arriving tomorrow, June 2 btw.

Man, I ordered a case from Dave and Adam's and no word of shipping or anything. Guess I should have ordered from Panini directly, but I had some rewards cash to burn on D&A.
 
Well, the 3 blaster boxes are out for delivery today - going to slowly bust them open and see what I get. I will post pics of the best pulls.

Well I ordered direct from panini and have not gotten a shipping alert yet, since it’s the offseason I don’t really have patience right now. Come on Panini!!
 
One blaster direct from Panini today. Some cool inserts. Donut Azzi. Numbered Samson Johnson. Really psyched to get Kaitlyn and KK because they don’t have many cards elsewhere.

So tempted to buy (several) more. Someone talk me out of it.

Hobby case? Wow you are going to be flush with base cards for the set. 3 blaster boxes and I am unofficially about 85% done. Happy to trade as well.

20 boxes x 36 cards = 720 cards, so yeah, gonna have quite a few. Lol I'll be happy to trade whatever dups I end up with. Guessing I'll end up with multiples of the base sets/insert sets.

Hobby is supposed to be June 6. Blaster already out.
 
So evidently I did order from Panini direct and must have forgotten about it, as I just got a notice they will be arriving tomorrow via UPS. :D Thinking I should cancel my Dave and Adam's order, except that I could probably flip the case from D&A for a quick buck as hobby boxes are now anywhere from $175-$200...
 
Does anyone know where I could get a cool Wes Bialosuknia card? Perhaps one that states he is the all-time leading scorer in ppg in a season and/or career at UConn?

If you are looking to unload some hobby boxes from that case from D&A when it arrives just DM me as I have 5 boxes on the way I could take a few off your hands if you are looking to sell.

Welp, my delivery from Panini got delayed to today. My shipment from Dave and Adam's is also arriving today, so I'm about to become flush in UConn boxes. Lol

The Flagg RC I pulled in a prior back came back as 10, 10, 10, 10 from BGS, so really hope that appreciates.

Damn, so that means it's a Black Label! Black labels go for crazy premiums over even PSA 10s. If it was me, I'd strongly consider cashing it in around the draft to take advantage of the pump he'll get for going #1 (even though everyone knows already he'll go #1). Sadly college cards rarely appreciate like their pro counterparts, so I'd jump at the chance to cash in on him (especially a black label) to fund future card purchases. Plus, who wants a gross Duke player in their collection anyways? LOL

6/6 (today) is supposed to be the release day. D&A is selling at 200% the price Panini had their boxes ($100 on Panini sold out -> $200 on D&A). I cannot justify paying D&A for buying up the lot from Panini and trying to make 100% profit.

Yeah, sucks the markup is that much but very common for any new release these days. I was able to snag the case from D&A at pre-release pricing (same as Panini). At just $100/box with 2 guaranteed autographs with both Bueckers and Strong autos, seemed like a no-brainer despite being a college set and for a singular team.
Most of the other major online retailers (Blowout, Steel City) seem to be at $200/box too.
