Looked around but didn't see an off topic board that really fits, and since this is (mainly about) the UConn men trading cards, figured I'd post it here. If a mod wants to move it to another forum they feel fits the topic better, by all means go ahead. But for UConn related trading card discussion, hop on in!

I collected sports cards back when I was a kid in the early 90s, and recently got back into HR hobby. Licensed college cards only recently came back, so I dove in last year. My mission is to complete the Solomon Ball rainbow set (collecting all alternate versions of a player's base card) for 2023/24 Bowman University Best Basketball. I've gotten most of the easier to get cards, but the rarer copied obviously have been harder to get. There is also a 1 out of 1 "superfractor" out there somewhere for Ball but seems like it hasn't surfaced yet ...gonna be hard to get that one.

Hoped to complete the rainbow set before the season started (and Ball goes off) but not looking likely.:D

Also a few other cards of Castle I've gotten (and my holy grail card of Paige and Stephon).

Dang, I've had my eye on one of the Solo cards I need to complete my rainbow (red refractor numbered to 5....most rare card outside of the 1 out of 1 superfractor) for a couple months, but was trying to wait out the seller to lower the price. Almost pulled the trigger on the card several times. Decided to bite the bullet and just pay full price, but turned out someone had bought it the day before. Doh!

I did pick up this card though....while it's not for my personal collection, I think I should be able to flip it for some some combo of nice Bueckers/Castle/Ball cards. :D

Ah, the Souleymane! Now that's a blast from the past.

Update on my Solo Ball rainbow set search: managed to pick up one of the #'d to 10 cards, so now all I need is the other /10, 2 #'d to 5's, and his 1 of 1 Superfractor. Now I'm really kicking myself for not picking up the red /10 and /5's from eBay when I had the chance. :(

Also randomly found a Denham Brown autographed card from the same seller so picked that up for $5 because why not. :D

That's only $1 for every 20 points he scored in a game...once. Good price.

I know I’ve heard panini is losing the rights to NBA to fanatics. Is that happening starting now, meaning Clingan rookie cards will be from fanatics, or is there still one more year of Panini?

I think Panini owns the rights to the NBA until late next year. Then Fanatics/Topps takes over. Though sounds like there won't be any Topps Paige autographs (definitely not WNBA) anytime soon. I think Paige may have autograph cards in the next Bowman University Basketball release, but that might be it.

Likely will be at least a few more Panini sets with Clingan/Castle/etc rookie cards until Fanatics takes over the NBA license. I'm sure they'll milk their license to the very end to squeeze every last drop they can.

Yeah, looks like they snapped his actual 1,000th.
Now that I think about it, Karaban doesn't have any cards in "regular" Topps/Bowman basketball sets, and it's not because he has some deal with Panini like Bueckers. I'm wondering if he'll be in this year's Bowman University sets.

There are so many card companies with different series and special cards that I have no idea if I’m holding something special. Not like the old days of Fleer, Topps, Donruss, Skybox, etc. There is a card show down by me in Feb that I’ll probably take my son to, although it won’t be the same experience as the smoke filled Milford Knights of Columbus shows that I went to as a kid.
