UConn @ Top 15 ECU (Thur. 4/18 @6:30p, *Sat. 4/20 Double Header> Game 2 starting @ 9a followed by Game 3*)

Offense is going to need to erupt. The lack thereof is really going to put an enormous amount of pressure on staff to be nearly perfect.

I wouldn't call it a swing, but what was a checked swing in the old days isn't usually called a check swing these days. It's called a hit by pitch for Prato. Top 1st, two runners on, no out.

.-.
Double play makes two out with runner on third. Huskies aren't getting good luck, or making good luck.

And a Christian Fedko ground out ends the top of the 1st with no score.

Kersten hits the lead off hitter. Not a good recipe for Kersten and success.

.-.
Prato ground ball out (almost a double play) scores Kyler Fedko to give UConn a 1-0 lead in the 3rd. Prato advances to second on a throwing error.

Bottom 3rd, 3 run homer for ECU's Brickhouse gives ECU a 3-2 lead. 10th homer of the year for Brickhouse.

Welp... didn’t think we’d shut Brickhouse out all weekend.

Answering back next inning would be nice.

ECU just a better team unfortunately.

This is what I was worried about with Kersten facing ECU. Against a really good lineup, he can get rocked. Pitching to contact can only take you so far.

No doubt. I’ll take meeting them in the AAC Championship series.

... but UConn needs to stuff some demons back in the closet to get there.

I think we left our offense down in Greenville when I was there. Here, I am giving it back. Can we please get something going?

Good lord we can't have anything nice this series. Brickhouse going nuclear.

We have solid bats at the top of the lineup but nothing like Packard or Brickhouse.

We have solid bats at the top of the lineup, but it really drops off quickly after Christian Fedko's spot. Offense really gets in trouble if the top bats slump a little, as the bottom of the order doesn't generally make up for it. Between that and not having weekend starting pitching that is not nearly as strong in other recent seasons, it is the two big problems on this team. Kersten is not going to get any better. As for Jimmy Wang, we have to hope with his youth and inexperience that he grows as his career goes along.
