Right now, I wouldn't put a lot of stock in that - it's a 'mentor' hyping his guy.

This kid is not on the level we need if were getting a guard to fill a ship. If were going to add another guard he has to be a stud or close to it that will step in for 1 our our pg's leaving next year. He would transfer 2 years from now...I think were going to wait until next year for a pg or 2 recruit wise.

One or both of bazz and boat will go pro next year. Considering the roster, both of them are going to have the best shot they will get to fill it up stats wise, there stocks may never be higher as small guards.

12-13
1-9 = omar/bazz/boat/gif/evans/scoe/dd/wolf/olander
10-open, fill with a center
11-open, fill with a pf
12-open, bank it, allen, or add a guard/sf
13-ncaa

13-14
-fill ncaa ship with a center
-fill evans ship with a pg/sg
-fill potentially a player leaving earlys ships with a pf/sf/pg

To be honest, I'm not really sure why we even went after R.J. Evans, or why he would want to play here. If there is one position we're all set at, it's PG. You could argue that the two best players on this team are point guards.

Evans is not a point guard.

Alright, so he's a shooting guard? I guess not a bad addition, even though the backcourt is the strongest part of this team.

Seems a bit odd that a senior wouldn't want a shot to play in the NCAA tournament though.

we needed a big guard, don't know how you could watch guards routinely shoot over and muscle Bazz & Boat and not think we needed some size there. Omar helps with that but he's also a freshmen, RJ filled an area of need.

I actually think it makes a lot of sense.

He's a Connecticut kid and has a chance to play for Connecticut -- I'm going to guess that's something he values more than he does the NCAA tournament.

Guys, face it, next year is what it is... Not good...

But to me the most important thing is to sort out our coaching plan for the years ahead... That way we can properly court the top 2013 recruits and dangle the new practice facility...

We'll have lots of seniors that are ready to kick ass then, and will be in need of some top flight freshman bigs, and these dudes will know they will play immediately and compete for championships...

The other thing that is hard to appreciate now, due to the NCAA hypocrisy, is that our program going forward will be super clean and ready to build on our kind-of-ridiculous-success over the past 20 plus years. What's happening isn't fair, but the long term results will leave the U better off

UConn has a great MBA program. If he wants to do something in basketball like be a coach, athletic director etc than having JC as a contact is HUGE. It's about education and networking in my opinion. He knows he can't play professionally. Very smart kid for thinking about the next few decades of his life instead of one year to possibly play a game or two in the NCAA tournament.

Yep, win-win........need him for experience and toughness and he needs JC and the audience for his future. Great get and I am glad he's joining us for the adenturous ride they'll have n 2012-13............

The scholarship was available and it is only for one year. At the worst he will be a body for practice for one season, get some grad credits and move on.

Evans gains Calhoun's rep and contacts overseas...Uconn gains by getting someone with size and experience to go against Omar every day in practice.

He plays good defense, rebounds well and slashes to the basket. I think he will help with depth which will be needed this upcoming season.
