Never understood the hype. He had a month where he couldn't miss from 3, but was under 32% over the entire season and really didn't do anything else that well.

In one season he became one of my all time favorite Huskies. He is such a smart, tough, instinctive player. He is a throw back. He is the kind of guy that you need if you want to win championships. He wasn't a great athlete but he was always in the right spot at the right time. He is a leader and he has passion. I will ALWAYS root for him.

Yikes
Hindsight is 20/20 but looking back at his game log, it seems like he capitalized on a lot of hype from a really strong 5ish week stretch from the end of November into early January
His season ended on March 23, and the last time he had a good game was February 11

Good for him for getting that bag though. He should be set for life as long as he doesn't build a fleet of Lambo's or enter into a bunch of poor car dealership partnerships.

Man, AJAX playing in summer league despite it being his 3rd year.....he must really be on the ropes as far as staying on the roster goes.

I mean if this is it, he still had a good run compared to 99.99% of other people. Made a few million bucks, played against the best of the best, made Sportscenter's Top 10 plays a couple times, participated in a dunk contest and (briefly) played in some playoff games.
Hopefully it's not the end of the road for his NBA career though.
Unfortunately, this is the truth which is why I put the sad face on your post. You hear the words "scorer's mentality" with people that can score and look to score and on a scale of 1-10 (10 being highest) AJax's scorer's mentality is a 1, maybe a 2 on his best day. Newton played today, but had just 1 point (0-2 FG, 1-2 FT), 2 rebounds, 2 steals in 13 minutes
The Pacers played today but Samson was a DNP-CD. Kam Jones started that game, 5 points in 20 minutes. Steven Ashworth played 9 minutes off the bench, scored 6 points

Newton is gonna have a hard time finding minutes with the ball in his hand, which is where he's at his best. Unfortunately, the TWolves will want to highlight their drafted guards.. Dillingham, Shannon Jr and Clark.

He turns down layups and dunks. I love the guy but I find him painful to watch.

2 minutes of watching AJ and he's already had a clear path to the lane that he decided to kick back out for a turnover, and that was after Doc Rivers was asked by the commentary crew what he needed to work on and he immediately said offense(off-ball defense too).

Andre is a third year player that started 40 games last year on a good team. Not a good look if he isn’t dominating summer league. Went 2-2 on his threes but 2 shots in 20 minutes is NOT what he needs to do to stick on a roster
His two threes are at 0:10 and 9:30 in this clip. Second one was clutch so have to give credit for that! But it just looks awkward still. He’s right handed, but gathers himself with his left leg. Rarely see that with good shooters

At this point, I'm not sure you even worry about his three-point shot itself, but more on his lack of aggression/attack.
I know it's not a super huge sample but he is 47-122, or 38.5% over the last two years from three. Some of those misses were terrible, but his overall shooting % isn't a problem.
He needs to attack the rim more.
