UConn Summer League 2025

At this point, I'm not sure you even worry about his three-point shot itself, but more on his lack of aggression/attack.

I know it's not a super huge sample but he is 47-122, or 38.5% over the last two years from three. Some of those misses were terrible, but his overall shooting % isn't a problem.

He needs to attack the rim more.
Yep, there were times he got by his man and didn't even pretend to want to score

Even during NBA games last year, teams would leave him wide open and pack the paint. He shoots a good percent but 38% on 1 wide open three per game isn't threatening. He doesn't have to be a good scorer, but he has to be a threat to score if you dare him to

He's fast, strong, has a good handle, and is a freak athlete. He should be able to attack the rim with ease, but there's been a mental block in scoring since for 2-3 years now. It's only game 1 of summer league, so hoping the coaching staff tells him to be more of a ballhog to see what he can do

He also has good vision and passing ability too (that's what he showed at UConn anyways). Someone needs to unleash his beast mode ASAP, because he's gonna need it to stay in the league.

Not sure that NBA folks see that it is their job to teach AJ how to play basketball. Yes, they develop him physically and skill wise, but at a certain point the player has to understand what the game requires. For some reason AJax can't crest that hill. We are all rooting for him.

Hope Andre is back around the program in some capacity when his playing days are over. Maybe GA?
We all would love that, but like you said "when his playing days are over". Hopefully that is not too soon and he can find a way to stick on an NBA roster.

Cam almost picked up a flagrant foul hitting a Celtics guy with an elbow on a box out, then got an offensive foul on the next trip down for hitting him in the face

Feisty lol

Liam with a nice 3 pt play shortly after coming in. Adama should be on a roster has an offensive rebound after getting position on Kalk then scores on the next possession hes better than any end of bench guy and can always play that tough minutes role.

And even if he doesn't he'll be playing overseas. There's no chance he's gonna stop playing basketball and become a grad assistant

Sanogo just a man amongst boys, abdolute menace on the glass
I’m hoping to be able to watch more of his summer league games. I worry that he can’t really protect the rim or defend in space. Still, he’s just so physical and productive. I want him to get a legit chance in the NBA. Maybe Utah will be the spot, since they're still in full tank mode.

Liam looks like a different player from the guy we had at the end of the year. Pretty obvious that he was hurt more than anyone let on.
That's what bums me out that so many fans have been tough on him. He had multiple ankle injuries he was dealing with pretty much all season and he had a bout of pneumonia. We never heard about it and all he did was give it his everything all season. He absolutely loves UConn, Hurley, and the fans.

He looked awesome out there. Finished with 22 pts, 12 rebs, 6 assists.

Only fitting that McNeeley beats 3 Jazz guys to a game-sealing rebound. 22/12/6 off the bench. Very much outplayed Kon who struggled all night with 5 points on 1-8. I'm guessing a mental problem. He shot 3-6 on FTs, he was a 91% FT shooter in college. Fun fact, he never missed more than 1 FT in a game in his entire college year

Sanogo vs. Kalkbrenner again. Sanogo did really well with 8 points, 8 rebounds, and a few assists on 3-4 shooting (the 1 miss was blocked by Kalkbrenner). Sanogo and Walter Clayton had a really solid 2 man game, they were torching the drop coverage
