Norwich Sea Unicorns of the Futures League tonight played at home against Nashua. Frank Spirito who was a redshirt freshman for UConn this past season was the starting pitcher tonight for Norwich. Spirito pitched 4 scoreless innings giving up 1 hit and 1 walk. He did a good job while he was in the game.

Norwich Sea Unicorns of the Futures League tonight played at home against Nashua. Frank Spirito who was a redshirt freshman for UConn this past season was the starting pitcher tonight for Norwich. Spirito pitched 4 scoreless innings giving up 1 hit and 1 walk. He did a good job while he was in the game.

This was the 2nd game Spirito has started for Norwich this summer season, he pitched 4 scoreless innings in the other start as well.

Yesterday in the Futures League, Norwich had a home game against New Britain. Gio Conte pitched the last 2 innings for Norwich, and got credited with the win for the game.

Incoming UConn freshman Bryce Detwiler got the start in the game as the Designated Hitter, and had 2 hits including a double, and scored a run and had an RBI as well in the 5-3 victory Norwich had over New Britain.

Incoming UConn freshman Bryce Detwiler got the start in the game as the Designated Hitter, and had 2 hits including a double, and scored a run and had an RBI as well in the 5-3 victory Norwich had over New Britain.

Last night in a Norwich road game, Detwiler was the D.H. and the leadoff batter in the Norwich lineup, he got 2 hits. Norwich has home games the next couple of nights, it will be interesting to see if Detwiler is the leadoff batter again in these games.

Detwiler only recently joined the Norwich team. He has been the D.H. in the 3 games he has been in, and so far he has a .364 batting average.

The Norwich Sea Unicorns of the Futures League now has Hector Alejandro listed on its online roster. Of course, Alejandro was with Norwich last summer as well. Alejandro's school is still listed as UConn at this point.
