Review:

No mention of the UConn players who were on the Norwich Sea Unicorns who one the Futures League championship. Of course, the article mentions that there were 19 UConn baseball players who played summer ball this year. Don't know if this includes incoming UConn baseball recruits who were not on the UConn roster this past spring, I'm guessing that their mention of 19 UConn players does not include incoming UConn recruits such as Matt Malcom, Sean Finn, and Tyler Minick who played for Norwich. There were a number of incoming UConn recruits joining the team this fall who did play in collegiate summer ball leagues this year.

I'm pretty certain now after looking at the UConn roster for last season and the incoming UConn recruiting class that incoming UConn recruits for this coming season are not included among the 19 UConn players who played in summer ball this year. About 13 incoming UConn recruits that I know of played in collegiate summer ball this year.

Brady Afthim (2024, UConn) set out to improve his control of the zone this summer and he did just that. After issuing 18 free passes in 24 innings for the Huskies, the 6-foot, 180-pound right-hander filled the zone with a 89-92 mph fastball, an 85 mph cutter and firm, low-spin (1500 rpm) 82-84 mph changeup. He walked six with 15 strikeouts in 15 innings while posting a 1.80 ERA.”

<One big Huskie at 6-foot-6, 260 pounds, Garrett Coe (UConn) isn’t much of a pro prospect, but he was a top performer in the Cape this summer. While his fastball reached just into the mid-80s, the left-hander baffled hitters with a constant back/forth of velo and his above average 77-78 mph changeup induced loads of soft contact. Opponents batted only .181 as Coe allowed only 13 hits in 19.2 innings while striking out 18 and posting a 0.91 ERA.>
