UConn starting to get respect.

How many games have we played at home this year which you think was played in cold weather? Our first game this year was on August 30th. The high that day was 98 degrees. The day of the game against Duke, the high was 56. This narrative that we are a cold weather team is bogus.

Huh? We are definitely a cold weather team. The weather doesn’t matter much in college football, but that doesn’t change the fact we’re a cold weather school. The only places that really get some weather for the college football season on a regular basis are high elevation schools out west. The Midwest and Northeast schools get a snow game now and then. We’ve had them. We definitely get a raw and uncomfortable game or two most years. November games are usually pretty unpleasant. My wife thinks any game after Mid-October is a cold weather game up there.

Frankly, I was stunned with the turnout. It was disappointing the week before. It wasn't just papering the house, either.

This seems like a good time to point out that the ACC has set itself on the mathematically impossible task of getting 9 conference games out of a 17 team league.

If only there were an independent team within the conference footprint that could immediately be plugged into the conference…

Aren't they just going to count ND as a conf game or something? Or we'll just wake up one day and find out USF has been added.

The plan right now is for one team to only have 8 conference games... which will be great... until someone wins or loses a spot in the title game by a half game.

ND has some non-ACC scheduled games with. FSU Clemson and someone else I think so some ND games count and others don’t? Yikes what a mess.

Notre Dame games are not conference games.

Edit to add that the confusion may come from the fact that the ND-Clemson 10 year agreement counts towards ND 5 game ACC scheduling agreement. But those 5 games are not conference games.

The plan is for 16 teams to play 9 conference games plus 1 P4 game per year. The 17th team will play 8 conference games plus 2 P4 games. The ACC winner will be first based on winning percentage and then there are other measures to consider if two teams tie on that measure. The biggest change is all of the P4 conferences will play less G5 teams in the near future since all going to 10 P4 games per year.

One addendum to this:

Currently ND games against ACC schools do not count as conference games. The idea was floated that once the ACC goes to a nine game conference season, counting the ND games as conference games could be a solution to having an odd number of football schools.

There were some early complaints about this (under the belief that it would be extremely unfair to some schools), so adding an additional member (for either football or all sports) would be the alternative.

One advantage we have over other potential additions is that we could slot in as a football only under a temporary agreement. Not a perfect scenario for us, but potentially a a path to what we want.
