I think Jones was just as confused as everybody else. He did say the delay caused by the confusion lasted about 8 minutes.

It was hardly a good camera angle, and they never showed a replay, but it looked as if he caught it. It certainly was in his glove before he started falling and as soon as he hit the ground he was throwing it from his back (why he didn't get up I'll never know -- that's what allowed Hague to score) but again, either Stock tagged and he should be at second or it should have been a DP. But I literally can't even think of an interpretation by which Stock went back to first.
