USM might be short handed with their starting pitching.
Shepard isn't starting but could come out of the bullpen. Based on what we saw Sunday vs. Northwestern State, he's not ready for any long stints.

We're getting Powell back from a suspension a week earlier than expected. The rumors were he'd miss this series as well.

Looking forward to the series. The expectation here is that it'll be a very competitive 3 games.

That’s the expectation up here as well. I expect the scoring to be on the lower side.

Not a big surprise at this point, but certainly good to know. The coaching staff has given Peterson plenty of positive mentions in interviews and tweets both in fall ball and in preseason.

After this weekend, UConn baseball weekends are going to start resembling something of a marathon, as UConn has 4 games scheduled in 10 out of the 12 remaining regular season weekends. So there will be plenty of opportunities Jimmy Wang or others to possibly make some noise as a weekend starter on the mound, whether or not Austin Peterson ends up making the most of his opportunity.

A definite warm up this weekend for UConn after the cold weather in Virginia last weekend. Weather forecast is for high temperatures in the low 80's all weekend.

One more note on this series: USM struggles to hit. If we play defense at the level we played last Sunday, we should be in for a successful series. They’re too good on the mound to gift them runs, though.

Interesting there is no Bushling and no Chris Brown who probably had the best weekend out of anyone last week

Video feed is behind the audio, so my “mute the audio on the video feed while listening to Jones” strategy is not working out well.

Gotta cash in here

Top 1st, UConn with a bit of an early rally in the works. Hague and Stock with back to back singles with no outs.

Hague scores to make it 1-0. Chris Jones isn't sure if it is a single or a sac fly yet by Pat Winkel. Gametracker calling it a sac fly. You would think an error would be needed for Hague to score from 2B.

Apparently it is a sac fly, with Stock advancing to 2B as well. Chris Jones giving a big credit to Hague and his base running.

Fielder fell down at the warning track. Heads up running by Hague to see that and scoot all the way home.

Bit of a clusterf— right now.

Controversy over whether or not the RF caught ball; apparently he did. Then, Stock was sent back to 1B despite appearing to have tagged up when the RF fell over making the “catch?” No idea. Either he’d be out or he tagged up successfully and went to second. Don’t know why they sent him back.
