I think Lexi is implying with this re-tweet that she's pretty sure leaving Texas and coming to Connecticut for college was the right move. (click on the Twitter link and listen to the short clip) (try not to laugh ...or cry)

Java , I agree with her.... I am pretty sure it was the right move for her too in coming to UConn.....There is no better place to develop and hone your talent and skills in the WCBB world. Hopefully a few others come along as well and make that Class really Special.

Crystal D. article from Nan's news links today

Crystal Dangerfield hasn't missed a minute of Connecticut's first two games in the women's NCAA Tournament. However, the UConn signee and top-rated point guard in the country isn't watching as a fan. She's paying close attention to every detail as a future member of the Huskies.

"I'm watching to see how they run their offense, their defense," said Dangerfield, who recently completed her high school career at Blackman. "A couple of weeks ago I was talking to an assistant coach about it. They run a read and react offense. I think I'll be able to succeed in something like that. Their defense, they just get up into people. I think (playing for) USA Basketball has helped me with that."

Her family has purchased tickets for the Women's Final Four on April 3 and 5 in Indianapolis and hopes UConn can make history with a fourth consecutive national championship.

"I'm hyped for it," said Dangerfield. "I want to see them make history. I want them to see them shut up a few haters saying that they can't do it."

What I esp. like about Crystal is her earlier statement that she wished she was already at UConn to be MoJeff's understudy. What that implies is that she would have been willing to have less playing time her first year just to learn at the feet of the master.

.-.
Crystal is prepping for next year. Look for her to be ready and get a lot of PT, probably in the starting lineup.

If this follows previous GA practice at the beginning of the season, anexperienced guard will start and she'll come off the bench. Given her skills it won't take long for her to become the starter.

Sue, Nicole, Rene, CD, Bria, Kia would beg to differ

4/3 update

Kyla Irwin won MVP of the Altoona Mirror Basketball Classic last Friday (4/1), one of two postseason all-star games she will participate in. She had 27 points, 17 rebounds, and 6 blocks.

Irwin will play in another all-star game on April 9th.

Sluconn - you have been great all year in keeping up with the signees! Thank you.
I am really going to be curious to see how Bent and Irwin transition to Uconn - they seem to be really committed and skilled players - whether that translates to Uconn is yet to be determined, but ...looking at OSU and the quality of play coming from similarly 'dismissed' players in terms of HS rankings is encouraging.

Crystal Dangerfield makes USA Today's All-USA 1st team along with Cox, Boley, Young, and Ionescu who they named player of the year.

ALL-USA Girls Basketball First Team: Crystal Dangerfield, Blackman (Tenn.)

2nd and 3rd teams if you are interested:

ALL-USA Girls Basketball: Meet the Second Team

ALL-USA Girls Basketball: Meet the Third Team
This is interesting. The various POY awards have been won by: Dangerfield, Cox, Young, Boley, and Ionescu. No consensus at all.

Also, no juniors on the first 2 teams, but 3 juniors on the 3rd team. Is 2017 a weak class? Or is 2016 a strong one?

Kyla Irwin had 9 points and 5 rebounds in her second and last all-star game, the Pennsylvania vs. Maryland All-Star Classic, Saturday.

Two 5'10" guards in the top 27 rated players are still out there, Ionescu and Harris. I'm curious to know if any of our boneyarders have seen them play in person?
