A Susi single brings Toppa in to score making it 4-2 going to the bottom of the 8th.. Huskies leave 2 runners on in the inning.
 
Bottom of the 8th, SLU gets 2 runs off of Holmes. Joe Rivera in from the bullpen trying to get the final out of the inning.
 
Seems like we will have to rely on Poulin and Dandeneau a lot if we want consistent 'pen performance this year.

Need better from Cate. I'm sure he'll be fine as the season goes on, but he hasn't quite looked like a first-round draft pick yet. Very, very excited to hear how Feole does tomorrow. Is it wild I may like him even more than Tim? If you haven't seen his mechanics, they're exhilarating to watch, with his high leg kick and strong delivery and whatnot. Would love to see us sweep the twinbill tomorrow.

Patience, it's little early in the season for such declarations. Bullpen performance will look a lot better once Tim Cate starts to consistently give us 7 strong innings. Also, much has been said in the fall about the rise of Jake Wallace and his being a candidate to close out games. He hasn't even had a chance to pitch yet this season. With a doubleheader today, I expect he will see mound time today.

I don't think anyone was expecting Trevor Holmes to be one of the mainstays of the bullpen this season. He got a chance in a game where UConn was down several runs late in a game. I tend to doubt he will be a guy to go to when things are really tight late in an important conference game.

Two UConn errors by Feole and Woodworth help gift SELU a run in the bottom of the 1st. Inning ends with Phillips throwing out a stolen base attempt. 2-1 UConn.

With 2 possible OFers in the infield (Winkel & Woodworth) I figured the infield pop up mishap would be a thing of the past. Hopefully that was just early season rust
 
SELU gets a run in the bottom of the 2nd, making it 4-2 UConn. Feole now up to 4 strikeouts, even though he struggled a bit that inning.

SELU gets another run in the bottom of the 3rd, UConn doesn't score in the top of the 4th. 5-3 UConn.
 
Feole gives up a lead off homer in the bottom of the 4th. 5-4 UConn, with Feole still on the mound.
