Top 6th, a scoreless inning for the UConn offense, 2 runners left on base. 4-2 UConn.

Have a feeling this game will be stressful throughout. We've had chances to blow it open, but despite the home run parade this game remains close. Sully can go another inning if he pitches well.

I would expect Sullivan starts the inning, but if runners start getting on base, I expect Coe will come in, he is warming up.

Bottom 6th, a double play ends the inning after a 1 out single, 4-2 UConn. Very nice outing for Sullivan, he is now at 89 pitches. It would not surprise me to see Coe on the mound to start the bottom of the 7th.

Offense has been dreary the past couple of innings. Hope the pitching can get it done from here.

.-.
Top 7th, UConn offense goes down in order, striking out twice. 4-2 UConn.

Sullivan on the mound to start the bottom of the 7th,

Bottom 7th, Sullivan gets the first 2 outs, with 1 more strikeout, he is coming out of the game. 8 strikeouts on the game for him, with no walks. With a lefty batter coming up, a pitching change. Fogell takes the mound for the Huskies.

Certainly no complaints about Sullivan's performance today.

Fogell gets a ground out to end the inning, 4-2 UConn.

Top 8th, with 1 out, UConn has the bases loaded, a single, a walk, and a hit by pitch. Pitching change, SDSU is bringing in their closer.

Daniels with a 1 out walk to bring in a run, 5-2 UConn. Smith follows with a 1 out grand salami, 9-2 UConn going to the bottom of the inning. 2nd homer of the game for Smith.

Bottom 8th, SDSU gets 2 runners in scoring position with 2 outs, a leadoff walk and a 2 out double. Fogell comes out of the game, Brady Afthim comes in.

Afthim hits the first batter he faces to load the bases, and then walks in a run. 9-3 UConn. A ground ball out ends the inning.

It’s remarkable how much better we are in the field than anyone we’re playing.

Top 9th, UConn loads the bases with 1 out.

Freeberger warming up in the bullpen.

Garbowski walks, bringing in a run, 10-3 UConn. That's it for this inning for the UConn offense.

As you would expect, Freeberger coming in to pitch the bottom of the 9th. Tammaro takes over at 3B. Freeberger's second mound appearance in a game for UConn.

Freeberger throwing 90-94 and looks smooth so far. There’s no real relief facing our pitching staff when we throw strikes.

Lots of depth and versatility on both sides of the ball on the position player side. D looks solid. Starting pitching is sorting out. Settling on 3 for BE play won’t be a problem. Only concerns involve the abominable number of walks and HBPs allowed so far. Especially from the pen. Freeberger is hopefully getting more high leverage looks. Caveat to our offensive output is the unbelievably poor pitching and D we’ve faced so far. I don’t know how college coaches stay sane. Love the athleticism, transfers showing out are the real deal.

SDSU, FAU, and OSU all had quality arms - they were let down by horrific defense (as you said) and some clutch 2 out rallies.

13-4 would look a lot better to pollsters than 12-5 but ish happens and hopefully Willis will learn from it.

Give Willis a break, everyone has a bad game at some point. It isn't like he is always blowing saves.

Maybe stuff-wise. But walks and HBPs were out of hand. 25+ by my count this weekend. Hawaii might have been worse. I think they will match last year’s firepower, but we’ll see how they grind on a day where the opposing pitcher’s command is there and his teammates pick the ball up.
