Coach Penders says that solo homers generally don't win games, it's when you put runners on base ahead of those homers when it really turns into trouble. Says that Ian Cooke looked more like himself tonight, especially after the 3rd inning. UConn played its most complete game tonight in all facets of the game. Coach Penders says your living on the razor's edge when you depend on scoring with 2 outs. Still, they scored a goodly amount of runs tonight.

4 strikeouts vs a high era guy. Really rough start for the offense. It is college baseball, bad games at the plate will happen, but these slow starts are just odd. UConn does heat up as the game goes along so hopefully we will see some runs the 2nd time through the lineup.

Personally, I'm a fan of trying to steal 2B with 2 outs, as in most cases it would take 2 hits score a runner from 1B.

Hard to make their terrible defense pay when all of our outs are strikeouts and lazy popups.
