UConn Ranked #25 in AP Poll, First Time Since October 2016

They should be pissed off with only a 25 ranking. Great teams/players see everything as bulletin board material. Stay insulted, stay motivated

To me the issue is games played. Many teams have played 12 at least 12 games (8 teams). We’ve played 7. For me that makes it hard to rank us because of the smaller sample size (so far). To everyone’s point, keep winning and the test takes care of itself.
I agree. Small sample size and no wins against top 25 teams.

If we keep the train rolling and have no covid issues, top 15 could be quick.

While we're on the topic of rankings this is a fun read....

From the ESPN article about this week's rankings...

"UCONN RISING
...The Huskies reached the national championship game in 2014 but went to the NCAA tournament only one more time before Hurley was lured from Rhode Island."

Ummmm excuse me, sir. We didn't just reach the NC game in 2014. We won the NC game in 2014, and against ESPN's beloved Kentucky.

Still can't get no respect!

Still ranked too low
With attendance either being suppressed or, in many cases, prohibited, fans have virtually no influence on the outcome of games. That said, I'm not liking what I'm reading about UConn's ranking today. I'm concerned about a perceived "Mission Accomplished" vibe. Among other things, They need six more games to be eligible for the NCAA Tournament.

On the other hand, I have no choice but to trust that Hurley will have these kids focused on the task at hand. Albeit vs. a presumably inferior opponent, UConn is still probably going to be shorthanded this evening and with not knowing whether future games will be played, All this program can do to improve their standing is win their next game.

if we had 3 more cupcake early season games we'd be higher. i think its just lack of games holding us back.

Reminds me a bit of the second sentence of the Rhode Island Rams Basketball Wikipedia:

" The team is under the direction of head coach David Cox who was formerly Assistant Coach to Dan Hurley for four years at Rhode Island until March 22, 2018 when Hurley departed for another college head coaching position."
