Bottom 9th, Wurster gets the first two outs, then a PC single combined with a throwing error by Kyler Fedko puts a runner at 2B.

Averted disaster. Penders will breathe a huge sigh of relief and be happy to get back to CT without a loss to a completely overmatched team.
Good gut check performance in the ninth.

Agree with the above, but PC is also a simply a bad team that finds ways to lose games. And they did in this one. Still, UConn was able to take advantage.

It is rare when Chris Jones talks about how bad an opposing team is, but it had to be obvious to anyone listening to this series.

"no one deserved to win that game"

"we looked like a circus"

Penders was brutally honest in this interview. It's nice to see a coach that doesn't play the "ah sucks, we won!" card after a God awful performance.

Hartford looks pretty decent this year. That should be a good test to see where we are.

Also, a good performance out of Dunlop.

To me this is a typical Penders interview. He is always pretty honest with offering his opinion on how they played, whether it be good or bad, and he often provides some good tidbits and information. He will fess up to both the good and the bad. He's great to listen to in these interviews.

Rice and Texas Tech are trying very hard to one up the ugliness of this game. 20 combined walks...my once proud owls are going to fall to 2-13.

And yea he did praise Dunlop. It was a solid performance for sure, outside of that one rough inning where he had the walks + terrible defense behind him.

>> Notes
  • UConn trailed 3-1 entering the top of the ninth inning, the last time the Huskies came back to win when trailing entering the ninth was at Southeastern Louisiana on Feb. 24, 2018. Isaac Feldstein hit a go-ahead two run homer in the first game of the doubleheader.
  • UConn is 4-0 on Sundays this season.
  • The five hits on Sunday is the least amount of hits that UConn has had in a win this season.
  • The sweep is the first for UConn in 2020 and is the latest sweep for the Huskies since sweeping Michigan State in Greenville, S.C. last March 15-17.
  • UConn has won its last seven games in the state of South Carolina.<<

They have actually won their last eight in SC, Illinois , Michigan St x4, Presbyterian x3.

I thought our pitching would be fine and was worried about the bats. Which given the early season results gives me some hope. Or I'm an idiot
