Good start. Top 60 kid has UConn in his final 8.

We're in there with quite a few other elite programs, this would be a huge grab for Ollie and the team if we can pull it off.

I hear the staff is waiting to see what shakes out with a few school in tthe 2013 class

I'm going to say Missouri mainly. With PG Wes Clark and possibly PF Jonathan Williams III.

I think we contacted Williams way back, but I'm not sure.

We did. We were high on his list and offered him then we stopped recruiting him or the mutual interest went down. If Wes Clark is released I see him playing for us next year.

Was it Wes Clark that said, "If you're trying to go to the NBA, where else would you go but UConn?"

What is the story, is the coach going to get fired because of the stuff at Miami

Frank Haith is likely to get hit with an atmosphere of compliance penalty and unethical conduct. Then it was rumored he would be give a multiple year show cause penalty which would me significant sanctions for a few years. That could be a postseason ban for a year or scholarship reductions, basically anything. Then Missouri would have a period of time to decide to keep him as the coach and have the sanctions on them or fire him and face nothing. Wherever he would be hired that school would face his sanctions. This happen a few years back with Bruce Pearl.

Most likely all of their signees would ask to be released and they will be. The. They would be starting the recruiting process over again.

I guess one of those who you can't go by video......a little small and not really explosive as you would like for his position and not a pg or 2g looking player? Must be something I can't see........I believe in the staff.....

Hopefully this video is of him in 8th grade.

I know what your saying. IMO he seems a little soft. Doesn't seem to have that explosive toughness u get from a lot of those NYC boys we have been recruiting lately. But he does have some nice attributes. He is 6'8" and looks pretty thick. Also his shooting touch and handle looks extremely good for his size. I'm a firm believer that personality and upbringing carry into basketball. Thats why I think a lot of those NYC kids play so tough even when they lack certain skills. That is why I am so excited about Terrence Samuel and Facey. But one thing I have noticed about good Northwest players is their BB IQ and feel for the game is always very fluid and advanced for their age. But not hard nosed and gritty like a lot of those NYC players. I know I am generalizing here and of course every player is different no matter where they are from. But from watching basketball for many years and from playing in both the Northeast and Northwest I have noticed these sort of patterns. Almost like each region has subtly different styles. It's cool. IMO I want Ollie to keep focusing on the NYC and CHI kids like he has been doing. I also like his LA connections too. If anyone thinks I am crazy I accept your opinion BC I am.

In the interview, they said he was a freshman "last year"...so clearly pretty young when this was filmed.

Good range on his shot and has some herky-jerky moves that help him to shoot in rhythm.

video is old, he doesn't even play in Portland anymore, he's at Long Beach Poly in CA

True. But for some reason, he isn't eligible to play basketball at LB Poly this season. According to the CIF site, he becomes eligible in March (3/16/13 I think) during the state playoffs.
