Serious question...is a tight rim a real thing? I mean the same type of shots went in later, so what changed, did the rims loosen?
I have always wondered where that term, or theory, came from.
It is my opinion. I coached for 30 years and normally, the newer the baskets, the tighter the rims. Also, a tell for me, how many shots taken by both teams went in and out.

Of course, Paige provided evidence to the contrary. But, Paige is not a normal player.

Wondering about Aubrey. At first I thought maybe she was being held until the 2nd half so OU couldn’t adjust. And who knows maybe if things didn’t turn so quickly that still could’ve happened.

Or maybe against OU he wanted shooters on the floor?

Or maybe preserving her absolutely needed?

Or ….
I doubt that she is 100%, or we would have seen her as Jana and to a lesser extent Brady struggled

Paige. Paige. Paige. The rest of the crew did enough to help Paige get a big win. Geno only played 8, with no garbage minutes doled out to Allie or Griff or Caroline. Beyond Paige, Paige, Paige shooting was a little suspect but the main suspects Azzi and Sarah did plenty of other good things so they are forgiven. Ash gave her all - as usual. Does anyone in the country work harder than that woman? No. Jana and Ice and Sarah handled Beers just fine. Good job! All in all a great game to watch and a good win to advance.

I said this before, but I feel Jana pretty much neutralized Beers. She played hard and with a ton of intensity. The biggest difference in my mind is Beers has more experience. With a year under her belt, I will be taking Jana over Beers.

I usaully despise Dee Kantner's style of officiating. It seems like she has her own rule book.
But today, she allowed hard contact & that enabled UCONN to ramp up their stifling defense.
True but she made a couple of her "what????" calls, like in the 4th quarter when she whistled Jana for putting both hands on Beers near the foul line. Why do you suddenly call a foul like that when you (and the other two refs) missed Beers knocking Paige to the floor in the first quarter???? Oh, that's right, it put the spotlight on her.
Just glad Joe Vaszily wasn't there helping Dee...

Sorry but u crazy.

Did you see the analysis where UConn had 3 players hovering around Beers? She was neutralized because UConn played good team defense and OU didn’t have enough good players to make UConn pay. Perhaps if Beers and Co had stayed at OSU, she would’ve had better support.

Jana is miles from Beers.

OK: Paige and the D were all-world

How could the team's performance improve?

1. We got a grand total of zero points from our posts
They did an adequate job of making life miserable for
Beers (which was their primary assignment) ...with
help...but some offense is required
2. Azzi is more active driving across the middle, but she
doesn't yet have a great instinct of when she is
completely open for a turn-around mid (or short)
range) which today was often.
3. I think the absurd schedule effected their pretty sub-
par first half...When they got the sand out of their eyes
they were more in sync.
I think Azzi still struggling a bit physically. She seemed a little slower than usual. Also, wonder about Aubrey, thought she might have spelled Ash after the crash or in for a bit at mopup.

Ok. I wasn't questioning you but it is a term that I have heard very much and was just wondering. It never occurred to me that the rims could actually be new.

The rim is spring loaded to allow for dunks that don't bend it or break the backboard. That spring can be stiffer or looser. Also, the entire assembly can be more or less rigidly connected to the backboard. And temperature can change the spring constant (if there's any physics majors on this thread). It may have been cold in the gym.

Struggled?....along with Sarah they held Beers to 10 pts....they did a great job in my mind, sometimes it's the intangibles tht people overlook and if you haven't noticed UConn leads the NCAA in opponents points scoring. On a bad shooting night great D will always keep you in the game.

We traded turnovers in the first half, 9 for us, 11 for OK, we finished with 10 (ten) I think against 23 in the game for them. Game over.
