I don't know much about his play. But the fact that he's Sam Cassell's son is awesome.

I have to believe that Cassell's playing with Rip only plays to our favor.

I've never seen this kid play but I would love to have Sam I Am in stands watching our games. A couple of the the posters on Uconnball who are pretty tuned into recruiting mentioned that they hoped we would offer Sam last week after he impressed in one of the invitationals.

He is a combo guard who plays mostly pg. His stock is improving at Notre Dame Prep and has offers from Maryland, Florida St, Nebraska and others.

Just watched a couple of his highlights on youtube and his game is kind of like his dad's. He isn't super athletic, but has good size, can handle, distribute and shoot. It was funny to watch because the form on his shot looks a lot like his dad's. It was also weird because it felt like I was watching a version of Sam Cassel Sr. with hair. Jr. looks like a good player.

This would be an awesome pick-up! :)

I mean if Michigan can have Tim Hardaway Jr and Georgia Tech having Glen Rice Jr, then what's the risk of getting a second generation? :p

even though it is a tad ironic that we beat Sam Sr's alum school, Florida State.

Ah the consistent powerhouses that are Maryland, FSU and Nebraska. Is he a aN option QB? Seriously though, this kid is a 2 star recruit on ESPN and I couldn't find anything on scout or rivals so I'm no getting excited

Maryland, FSU and Nebraska never get good players in which you saw a game and said "wow wish he was in a Husky uni"?? If he's anything like dad or will be I'd take his game any day!

If he has the guts that his dad played with then he is the type of kid we want. Cassell was knocking down big shots in the NBA finals as a rookie for .

Who cares what the scouting services have him listed as or what other schools are or are not recruiting him. If the staff evaluated him and sees something of substance in his game, he could be a good get.

With APR issues we have to consider academics when recruiting. We're not Duke who can get all top players who are also super students (Okafor's don't come around for us very often) so we may have to sign players that are a notch below in player rankings but strong academically who fit into Calhoun's style of play. Maybe this is the situation with Cassell Jr. By the way, I saw that he is 3 stars on Scout.com.

Jeremy Lamb was a 2* when he committed to UConn. Guess we would be better off without him.

Not true, he was a lower ranked 4 star.

I don't care what Cassel's ranking is as long as he is good and has big balls.

When he committed to UConn, he was a 2*. After he comitted he was a 4*. Do you not remember the PC pissfest about how UConn recruits automatically get high rankings?

Actually, he was ranked 62 by Scout and 68 by Rivals before he committed.

Cassell is having a very good year at Notre Dame prep and made six 3's in his last game. UConn could use another shooter who can handle the ball. That is one of the weaknesses with this team while Boatright is out.
