Because we don't deserve to be on an even playing field with top schools? Not sure why this was not Plan A all along.
No. In life you don't get what you deserve, you get what you create or negotiate. Plenty of top schools in the Big East.Because we don't deserve to be on an even playing field with top schools?
Watch your entire program fade into oblivion.No. In life you don't get what you deserve, you get what you create or negotiate. Plenty of top schools in the Big East.
That number becomes zero if you are not in a P5 conference, kind of like planning how to spend lottery winning before buying a ticket.Because being in a P5 conference (plan A) is worth tens of millions of dollars to the school annually, just from tv revenue alone?
Yes, and zero is what you are advocating for UConn. That number becomes zero if you are not in a P5 conference, kind of like planning how to spend lottery winning before buying a ticket.
How so? Who won NCAA Men's Basketball Championship in 2016? How about the Women's?Watch your entire program fade into oblivion.
Is that Rutgers "deserved" what they got or UCONN "deserved" what Rutgers got. That last one sounds like envy!Watch your entire program fade into oblivion.
And that should be you don't always get what you deserve, not that you never get it. Look at Rutgers.
I predict once Geno leaves if we're not in a P5 by that time, the women's program will fade pretty fast. Perhaps quicker than Tennessee. That's example #1 of how fast things can go downhill though they are still somewhat buoyed by the fact that they are in the SEC, but if they don't win something in the next couple of years, they're going to be recruiting kids that don't remember Pat or Tennessee winning anything. Geno's in a sweet spot right now in that a whole generation of potential women's basketball players have grown up watching his program dominate the sport and potentially bring home consecutive Olympic gold medals not to mention having a slew of former players in the pros.Watch your entire program fade into oblivion.

And I predict,if Geno moves on,that one of the present assistant coaches,or Jen,or someone with knowledge of UConn basketball, will take over and continue the excellence that is UConn women's basketball. The new coach may not win ten championship titles, may or may not produce the exact results like beforehand. However,UConn is UConn, and good to great results will always be the norm.Once the roots take hold, the tree will continue to grow, long after the fertilizer has gone away.I predict once Geno leaves if we're not in a P5 by that time, the women's program will fade pretty fast. Not quite zero, I think we make a couple of million in the American. That number becomes zero if you are not in a P5 conference, kind of like planning how to spend lottery winning before buying a ticket.
If it was just about the athletic department, I would say we deserved it more than they did. My point is that there will be P5, and nothing when this is over.Is that Rutgers "deserved" what they got or UCONN "deserved" what Rutgers got. That last one sounds like envy!
The full impact of lack of funds hasn't occurred yet, but when it does a non P5 team winning will be almost impossible. How so? Who won NCAA Men's Basketball Championship in 2016? How about the Women's?
Butler is the only Non-Catholic school in the conference.Isn't the Big East still an all Catholic School league?
Not to argue but along with your thoughts/presentation---In the real world the ability to create or negotiate depends on what you have to offer, your power, your high level identity---Arkansas in the old time history--in Football got many Bowl bids for one reason , it's true that at time they had a good to great team but that was not what got them bowl bids---their fans won the day for them--hoards of Razorbacks filled stadiums, hotels, restaurant, transportation facilities. That was the dollar value of playing Arkansas for the Bowls.No. In life you don't get what you deserve, you get what you create or negotiate. Plenty of top schools in the Big East.

Ask Louisiana Tech how that's working out.
Not quite zero, I think we make a couple of million in the American.
The American, as currently configured, is the best G5 football conference. Being here is a necessary step to have the opportunity to join a P5 conference. That's why we didn't just fold up the tents and petition the New Big East for membership.
The state and the university have invested millions in Connecticut football. With that investment made, it makes sense to continue the process as long as there is hope. If Big 12 expands and UConn isn't a part of it, it is sensible to reconsider whether the AAC continues to make sense for us.
No one watches BE anything. There is zero visibility (if you believe the ratings numbers) let alone value in it. The BE blew its shot when the Catholic schools started acting like brats and decided to destroy the league. Now, it's power conference or bust. Either get into a power conference or prepare to downsize your athletic department because not even God himself will be able to help you keep up with B1G and SEC schools raking in $40-50 million dollars every year just from a TV contract. When a top NYC basketball recruit is choosing between say Rutgers who will be able to pay said player $10k/year or UConn where you get to play Creighton and Butler, where do you think they are going to go?Doug will vote for his Catholic Friend Geno!! Remember Geno is a multi-bucked individual. Not to mention how he shall
raise the level of competition and NCAA births. The BE will once again be on the big stage--there is value in that.Visibility.
