You are obsoletely right. I said this on the football board and the fallout I received before the “next step “ shoe dropped. Now people hopefully understand better the point I was making, although some of them comprehend very poorly even after being embarrassed being wrong. That was my first reaction . I get that streaming is the future ( or present) but putting a marquee game on a network without max exposure hurts the product
Good point, maybe I am not allset after all with Peacock. The “next steps” game deliveries I alluded to on the football board keeps getting even worse than I thought.
Val Ackerman should be terminated before the season starts. Where are the Big East Presidents?

Another point from a business perspective is they did not pay enought of money! Val Ackerman is a disaster and has been her whole career. If you are going to ignore your Brand, customers and long term - at least get the short term big dollar. And she failed at that too.
They had $20 deal just a couple of months ago. Yarders can’t say they weren’t warned.Usually they offer a year for 20-25 bucks around Black Friday. You would miss the UMass Lowell game if you wait til then, if you don’t mind.
When was that?Darn, I missed the days. The games were on CPTV.
You miss the point, you manage where you are in the market and position yourself for long term success. Val Ackerman instead has continued her long track record of failed results. You are worth what the market dictates you are worth.
The Big East Presidents knew revenue sharing was coming coinciding with a major cash crunch at Universities, so they grabbed the biggest bag they could get. This isn't a Val thing. This is survival mode. You can talk about leadership and big picture and long term brand identity, but @Chief00 look at the Big East rosters this season and tell me how much money they should have been comfortable giving up on the deal and make their teams less competitive in order to stay on CBS Sports Network instead of Peacock.Val was given a raise as part of closing the Peacock deal.
By the Big East Presidents.
“Val Ackerman’s salary saw a big jump in 2024 to $1.8M which looks to be driven via a $520K bonus. There is no explanation in the documents, though the timing could be related to the new media contract being signed. “

Thanks for proving my point, as you continue to defend the woman the female players in the WNBA feel screwed them over. You are one sexist guy.Val was given a raise as part of closing the Peacock deal.

I agree that Val stinks but the rest of this is CTEThanks for proving my point, as you continue to defend the woman the female players in the WNBA feel screwed them over. You are one sexist guy.
And you should realize whatever increases in revenue this incompetent Commissioner got in recent years was due to Championships won by Hurley, Wright and Geno. Nothing to do with her.
I think that’s what I have with Xfinity but does that cover Premium Peacock?Xfinity offers free Peacock with some of their packages. If you are a customer, it may be worthwhile to see what they can offer you.
That is with 18 team leagues and such. The NBE has half the games. You want to try to keep up, though, you need to do whatever for money. And when you have half your league that is deadweight, that doesn’t help. Not sure this is a Val Ackerman problem, though she is terrible. It seems to be an increasing trend that the best teams and games are being put on streaming services across all the conferences
You can barely see the wall in front of you. Good business people think next step and in Ackerman’s case - the next step is a less exposed brand nationally, which will mean recruiting and merchandising will take hits. Yet, she can’t see beyond her next bonus. Shame on the Big East Presidents for disincenting long term success. Then the league can return the NBC money.

And the Red Sox were on appletv for an important game or two as they were getting close to clinching a postseason spot. While streaming is growing, it's still not at a point where it's a net positive from a fans' accessibility standpoint.Every single major conference and sports league has games on streaming. The NFL put a playoff game on Peacock.
Good example. The Red Sox clinched that day and no one watched it happen. The NFL playoff game was known as the “free trial game” but that won’t work for Big East basketball as it spans several months. I’ve never really looked at how well ND football does on peacock but they are a national brand so not quite apples to apples. The real measure is how, say, Michigan State or Purdue basketball games do on peacock. And the Red Sox were on appletv for an important game or two as they were getting close to clinching a postseason spot. Curious to see comparisons to the ACC and big 10. SEC seems set with most games on espn channels.Every single major conference and sports league has games on streaming. The NFL put a playoff game on Peacock.

Michigan State had 6 games on Peacock last year, Purdue had 8 games on Peacock last year. So it's a trend everywhere, not just for UConn/Big EastCurious to see comparisons to the ACC and big 10. SEC seems set with most games on espn channels.
Yeah I guess we'll have to see all this plays out but I think one can bifurcate two separate issuesMichigan State had 6 games on Peacock last year, Purdue had 8 games on Peacock last year. So it's a trend everywhere, not just for UConn/Big East
I strongly doubt Chief is unaware of what is happening. It’s his tendency to utilize an emotional situation (in this case the access difficulty and added cost for fans) and incite anger for his personal agenda. Which is the removal of Val as BE commissioner.Every single major conference and sports league has games on streaming. The NFL put a playoff game on Peacock.
My son and his friends watched a lot of sports on illegal streams in college. He said everyone does. This is why young people with more limited incomes most of whom are not on here use vpn (to protect against malware) and illegal aggregator streaming sites to access games. They cannot afford this craziness. How do I know? I asked my son how he and his friends watch the games.
Understandable for people in difficult situations to resort to illegal activity. But I imagine that many people do this who have adequate resources. This is why young people with more limited incomes most of whom are not on here use vpn (to protect against malware) and illegal aggregator streaming sites to access games. They cannot afford this craziness. How do I know? I asked my son how he and his friends watch the games.
