Seriously, we need to destroy them and build our confidence back up.

I would be thrilled with a 1 point victory...all this talk about crushing DePaul is bad for the mojo.

We are doomed!

The title says 'may' which makes it passively accurate. I wished he had said 'will' which makes it aggressively accurate.

Nonetheless OP is right.

They don't need to go 5-1, but I don't think they're going to want to tempt fate at 8-10 in conference either.

At .500 in conference, they'd be able to feel relatively confident that they'll be going. They really need to hold serve at home - that would mean knocking off Marquette and SU. That'd be enough.

Look at the bubble. It's pretty bad. Their SOS and RPI is very good. They're almost certainly in if they go 3-3. Let's not try that though...

unless they make a deep run in the big east tourney i think they need to win 5 of their last six games

Not to be rude (famous words before being rude), but you said this and backed it up with nothing. And then when everyone pointed out that this is absurd due to RPI and SOS, all you did was restate your initial point, only hedging instead of saying it definitively. If UConn goes 4-2, they're in. There's no way around that. Their SOS and RPI is too high otherwise. There are all sorts of teams with similar or worse records that have historically made the tournament because of those two factors.

Everyone is entitled to his/her opinion, but it will not be taken seriously if not backed up with anything. Have you seen some of the teams who have made it in to the tournament the last couple years? There is also four extra spots open this year with the two extra play in rounds.

A 9-9 UConn team with wins over West Virginia (a team we might be competing with for a spot btw), Florida State (who beat UNC AND Duke), Harvard, and @ Notre Dame (This win actually looks really impressive now, considering how ND has been playing). If they can beat Marquette and/or Cuse, finish 9-9 in the Big East with 19 wins, have a good RPI/SOS, and point to those quality wins, I'd be very surprised if they do not get in.

I think 4-2 will get us in and possibly 3-3, however like another posted stated, we don't want to try that. What we are desperately needing now is a BIG, landmark win to show everyone this team can beat the best out there. As the season is dwindling so are our chances for that signature win and it is looking like Syracuse is our main option outside of the Big East tourney of course.

4-2 would have wins over Pitt, Providence, DePaul and Villanova at a minimum which means no bad losses in the last six but no great wins.
