I'm still bitter about this.

And while on the subject of geography, I want Fishers Island. No reason it should be part of NY. We could move the casinos there and have a New England "Atlantis." <--not serious. That joint commission in 1879 which upheld the 1664 award was totally crooked.
When I lived in Stamford in the 1980's I wanted Port Chester as part of CT. The bars were open till 4:00 AM but closed at 2:00 in CT.

If you are ever invited to play the private course, do it. One of the most unusual and challenging courses especially when the SW sea breeze fills in.

There seems to be a superfluous notch to the east of the real one.
It is actually a lake mostly. Though once a Lt Governor of Ct told a radio guy that when he becomes governor he would send the governor’s foot guard and horse guard to reclaim it. Little known fact but when a governor leaves the state borders he is technically out of power and the Lieutenant Gov is acting governor. It was more of an issue before they were elected as a ticket. Most states don’t elect them separately any more but there were times when they did that you had a governor from one party and Looey from the other. There have been cases where a governor goes on vacation spur of state and the Looey fires all his staff. Happened in California in the 80s iirc. They changed the system after that.

I saw a show a couple years ago about how the CT/RI border was set. Pretty interesting.

Wouldn’t you want Stamford to be part of NY?

What’s the golf course half in NY and half in CT? Their booze licence is CT so we could only get served in certain places.

Rockrimmon in Stamford 1/2 and 1/2 - with the clubhouse in CT. Maybe there is another, although I am pretty sure Tamarack is all in CT and Pound Ridge all in NY.

The border show must have been a three part miniseries!

Actually Springfield, at one time, was part of the northern border of Connecticut. But there was a pelt dispute between Hartford and Springfield, which Hartford won. However, Springfield was pissed and seceded from Connecticut. I think it was Blumenthaul's fault. LOL

There is a private course now controlled by Starr (an offshoot of AIG, so to speak) that is both in Danbury and Brewster. Great course. Don't worry about nearest airport, not uncommon for an exec to land by helicopter on the grounds while you are playing.

Back to regularly scheduled programming - nice write-up by the Herald: New Britain Herald - Southington's O'Shea transferring to UConn to continue football career

This is a Corey Edsall/Jay Rose add...

>>After O’Shea reached out to UConn about playing in Storrs, the tight end said, one of the program’s recruiting coordinators followed him on Twitter. It led to O’Shea reaching out again and a meeting with UConn tight ends coach Corey Edsall and Rose followed, in which they talked football and broke down film of the Huskies’ tight end play from last year.

“You could tell [Edsall] was trying to pick my brain a little bit,” O’Shea said. “I was pretty scared, to be honest, going like, ‘please don’t mess that up, please don’t mess that up.’ He was asking me what the tight end did right, what the tight end did wrong. I guess I did really well in that. I know guys are faster than me and stronger than me, but I think one of the strongest aspects of my game is the mental side and being able to understand different techniques and leverages and things like that.”<<

>>And when he let Edsall know he was coming to UConn, O’Shea said, his new position coach was “fired up.” His parents, Theresa and Tim II, were just as thrilled. O’Shea’s mother is a UConn alum, while the younger O’Shea said his dad cried a little thinking back to the tailgates the two had gone to years earlier.<<

Right - Port Chester would have closed earlier if it was part of CT...

(btw - nothing good ever happened after 2am in Port Chester that I recall from my Stamford days...)

Do I have reading comprehension issues or did this junior reporter fail to resolve the critical info; i) scholarship or WO? I'm guessing its the latter, ii) eligibility - 4 years to play 4? Is he a RS Frosh or true Soph?; iii) will he sit a year or does he have a case/ability to play in 2019?

Would be 2nd year eligibility this fall, spent redshirting, so he's 3 to play 3 after that. Article sounds like they plan to bulk him up as a TE .Other than Rose ( a converted QB) they don't have a natural TE on the roster. Davis leaving really left a void.
Must be a walk-on. You don't scholarship a kid that you passed on in 2018, project him as a new position he has never played and spend a scholarship. THAT would be a crushing indictment. Good luck to Tim. Lock him in the Weight Room and see what we have this time next year. Go Blue.

I think Donovan Williams could surprise some at the position. He’s an athlete that has good size and speed. He played WR. The blocking duties could be a challenge but he should be able to win some matchups on routes against LB’s and/or SS’s.

Agreed on all points- just wished the reporter had the wherewithal to confirm.

The kid can catch and has some fluid movement ability. There is potential here if he wants it. Needs to continue to bulk up w/o losing that fluid stride.

Looks like Donovan Williams has been making the effort in the weight room. He might be the guy along with Eli Thomas I cheer for most this season. Seems like a guy that has done all the right things while waiting patiently for his moment. I hope he finally gets those catches and some TDs this year.

I've said this before, but I love this:

View attachment 42720

I wish the school would use it more. I wouldn't mind seeing it on the field this year.

Love this. Why not make it the whole field in some way? “Mensah at the 50, busts it out past Meriden to New Haven, cuts it up at the Sound and he’s down to Milford to Bridgeport to Norwalk now Stamford and through Greenwich for the score!”

Um -- that's why you didn't want Port Chester to be part of CT nimrod.
