Army is there because they allow 10 pts/game or less. Probably tops in FBS. Navy was there because they were averaging 45+/game until ND. We beat UAB and we dropped in other ranking services. CBSsports is a one-man contractor. And it's great what UConn is doing. Robust NIL for better roster, funding for better coaching and having someone like Mora acting as a closer/face of program will all allow for a more competitive football team at higher levels... Yes scheduling 10 programs a year of perpetual schools ranked 100-134 can get you 8 wins a year but at some point, you have to show that you can beat somebody, P4s or ranked G5s. Being competitive against 2 of the P4 teams on the schedule is a start.
Army is there because they are undefeated. They have played a schedule that is weaker than ours by quite a lot. 2 teams with winning records so far. Both 5-4. Zero P4s. Temple, FAU, Rice and UAB might sound familiar.
Add a 1 win Air Force, 3 win Tulsa.
Or look at Tulane. They are ranked 25 in the AP. 8-2. They played 2 P4 games. Guess how many they won. They have figured out the formula too. Win games. They also beat UAB, Temple and Rice.
We are a G 5 team. We will be fine playing 10 G 5 games as long as we go 9-1. Every now and then we’ll pull an upset of a P4. At the end of the day they look at your record. It doesn’t matter who you play.
