Exactly. Both Army and Navy show that too. Army is #25. Navy was up there too until they lost to Note Dame and Rice. As for the schedule being easy, that is going to vary year to year. I’m sure when Buffalo looked at the schedule, or Temple did, they had UConn in the W column. Florida State was ranked in the Top 10 in preseason polls. Very few teams had that as a win when they looked at the schedule in August.
Army is there because they allow 10 pts/game or less. Probably tops in FBS. Navy was there because they were averaging 45+/game until ND. We beat UAB and we dropped in other ranking services. CBSsports is a one-man contractor. And it's great what UConn is doing. Robust NIL for better roster, funding for better coaching and having someone like Mora acting as a closer/face of program will all allow for a more competitive football team at higher levels... Yes scheduling 10 programs a year of perpetual schools ranked 100-134 can get you 8 wins a year but at some point, you have to show that you can beat somebody, P4s or ranked G5s. Being competitive against 2 of the P4 teams on the schedule is a start.

Army is there because they are undefeated. They have played a schedule that is weaker than ours by quite a lot. 2 teams with winning records so far. Both 5-4. Zero P4s. Temple, FAU, Rice and UAB might sound familiar.
Add a 1 win Air Force, 3 win Tulsa.

Or look at Tulane. They are ranked 25 in the AP. 8-2. They played 2 P4 games. Guess how many they won. They have figured out the formula too. Win games. They also beat UAB, Temple and Rice.

We are a G 5 team. We will be fine playing 10 G 5 games as long as we go 9-1. Every now and then we’ll pull an upset of a P4. At the end of the day they look at your record. It doesn’t matter who you play.

This is the correct answer.

Win win win. When the B12/Acc looks at our football records in 2031. 8-4 9-3 8-4 and so on. No one will remember who we beat just that we win. I would prefer to play 12 games against teams 120-132. F it let’s go 12-0.
If we did that we’d be Top 25 most years. Being talked about as a possible CFP contender. Probably wouldn’t get there but you never know

I can't see Army beating ND... not with the schedule they've had.

In their last win, they had 15 total passing yards. I can’t see how they can be the good team with such a weak passing game.

We are G5. As much as you want to pretend we aren’t that simply is a fact. Playing P4 competition without P4 resources is neither realistic nor a route to success. Winning football games is what is important. If we are 12-0 in CUSA, we’ll get far more positive coverage than finishing 4-8 against 8 P4 opponents.

Let me know which P4 bids we turned down. I guess we could fake it and go 4-8 every year playing a schedule we have no business playing.

I like the schedule just as it is. Without P4's on the schedule, there is no way to make progress. Of course, if you like the Big East so much that you would consign FB to forever G5 status, you would play only G5's.
