UConn in the Summer League

Happy I got to see Jalen’s first pro bucket. He is getting some decent PT on ESPN right now.

Old friends Armoni Brooks, Aubrey Dawkins and Troy Caupain also playing tonight

Really nice would be assists from Jalen.

If only his teammates weren't complete boneheads. Tries for tomahawk jam when he could have laid it in, and of course the ball hits the rim and goes flying.

I saw Aubrey live in game against Tulane and the kid looked like an exceptional athlete and made some nice drives/shots. Of course was against Tulane. Really thought he was an NBA quality player, better than Jalen; guess we will see.

Awesome outing for Jalen last night. He looked comfortable out there after that early turnover.

Today's (7/7) games:

Larrier (SAS) 3:30
Brimah (BKN) 4:00
Purvis (CHI) 7:30

O/U .5 DNPCDs?

Jalen finishes with 12 p 2 r 4 a in 23 minutes. 4/8 FG 1/3 3P
Not too bad Jalen!

He was a total negative on the first three possessions -- turnover, beat on a box out, beat on defense. I was this close to switching over to Star Trek DS 9 (Ezri just joined the crew and Worf is moody). After those first 3 possessions, he settled down and played a really solid game. Nice to see NO play him both at the 1 and the 2, and nice to see Jalen not forcing anything.

Kid's gonna be alright.

Larrier played 3 minutes for the Spurs. 1 turnover, no other stats. Looked very lost

Is it just me or has the shooting in this summer league been pretty much the worst in the past decade or so?

Nothing has changed since VCU

Yeah, not his fault though. If you have no feel for the game, you have no feel for the game. Even crazy hard work doesn’t help that.

7/7 Results:
Larrier 3 minutes, no points, no rebounds, no assists

Purvis, 10 minutes, 7 points, 2 boards, 3-5 shooting

Brimah, 13 minutes, 3 points, 1 board, 2 blocks, no pf

Larrier is clearly a practice body -- he got his 3 minutes and I don't think he'll get more. I hope Purvis gets more run -- he can fit on an NBA bench if he can get another chance.

7/8 Schedule:
Wizards vs Nets (Brimah), 5:30, ESPN 3
Raptors vs Spurs (Larriier), 7:00, ESPNU
Pelicans (Jalen) vs Bulls (Purvis), 9:30, ESPN 3

.-.
Jalen really forced things tonight when he had the ball in his hands, didn't do much when he didn't have the ball. Missed opportunity after getting the start.

Last Night (7/8)
Brimah (started) 14 pts, 8 reb, 2 blocks, 4 fouls in 20 min
Jalen (started) 5 pts, 3 reb, 5 assists, 3 to in 18 min
Purvis 2 pts, 1 reb in 9 min
Larrier DNP

Great night for Brimah!

Today (7/9)
No UConn players playing tonight.

Hopefully amida gets a two way contract. Jalen can enjoy the G league.

Watched Jalen play in the 2nd quarter and the Pelicans opened up the game when he was on the floor. Made some nice passes and played good D. He telegraphed one pass that ended up being stolen and the opponent went in for a breakaway layup. Adams seemed pretty upset about it after that.

I'd have to think Jalen is def. going to be in the G league. Hopefully he can continue to improve and hopefully get called up to an NBA team one day.

I think he will do well in the G league and could get a chance with a call up similar to Purvis if the right opportunity arises. If nothing else, he can have a good career overseas in a couple years.

Just two days left in the Summer League regular season and the last day of the Summer League regular season for all UConn players.

Today, 7/10:

Hornets vs Bulls (Purvis) -- 5:00, ESPN 3
Magic vs Nets (Brimah) -- 5:30, ESPNU
Cavs vs Pelicans (Adams) -- 7:30, ESPN 2
Spurs vs Suns (Larrier) -- 9:00, ESPN 3

Don’t forget swin cash is the front office shot caller. Go huskies.

That's my guy Amida making UCONN nation proud. Amida deserves to be in the NBA with a fully guaranteed contract. Biggest talent gone to waste during the Ollie era.

I hope JA enjoys the G League and uses it as an opportunity to advance. He's a really nice guy who had a tougher time at UConn than he should, having to play so many different roles.
He looks like he belongs with these guys and has made some impressive plays the past few months
I also hope all the Huskies do well and get where they want to be and make some nice money doing so
I can't be a curmudgeon against any of them
