UConn in the NFL

Indy's become a pit stop for UConn players in recent years - Donald Brown, Darius Butler, DanO (briefly), now Sio.
Believe Scott Lutrus has his shot as well.

Del Rio is your standard run of the mill filler coaching hire. He'll be there for 2 years, get fired after going a combined 10-22, and go find another job. Recycled waste.
As diehard Raider Fan I hope you're way wrong. I have faith as I do every year. This shouldn't be anything new to anyone here, but I think think I can expect a couple more wins, despite the most difficult rated schedule in the league.

Gotta think Todman gets picked up somewhere. Not sure how he doesn't stick permanent somewhere. For his career, he's averaging 4.1 yards per carry, like 7+ per catch and like 27+ per kick return.

It's hard to fathom just how difficult it is to make it through the gauntlet to be one of the 53. Kudos to all the Huskies who did this year, especially Geremy Davis and Nick Williams. First round picks like Byron Jones are heralded players who are almost assured of a spot. 6th rounders and undrafted FA's are extreme long shots. Husky Nation is smiling today.

Steelers signed running back Jordan Todman, who was released by the Carolina Panthers, the team announced.
I guess it helped that Jordan rushed for 72 yards against the Steelers in the final pre-season game. Le'Veon Bell is suspended for the first two games (substance abuse) so hopefully this isn't just a temporary insurance policy. Jordan averaged 5.8 yards per carry for an awful Jags team last year.

Yeah... after this 49 yd TD run, someone in the Steeler's coaches box took notice but they had a hard time getting a hold of "Jonathon"

Robert McClain and Donald Thomas are out of the league?

Donald Thomas has been hurt almost all of the past three seasons.

McClain not making the Pats was a shocker. He won't be unemployed for long.

Geremy Davis:

I’m so glad the phone didn’t ring: I’m a Giant

>>I didn’t relax until 4 o’clock. Not 3:59, not 3:58. At 4 o’clock. As soon as 4 came, I was like, ‘Whew, that was it.’ Me and my other good friend, Nick Williams — he went to UConn with me and plays for the Falcons — and we were texting each other constantly throughout the day, just hoping, both counting down, two more hours, one more hour. He made it, too.<<

I love how close our former players are. Nick Williams roomed with Byron Jones at UConn and stays close. Nick also has a business deal with Kashif Moore and is BFF's with Geremy Davis. Like it says in the Student Union. Students Today. Huskies Forever.

Rather uneventful day for UConn alumni in the NFL today:

Donald Brown SD: Inactive Today. Buried on the depth chart at the moment.

Kendall Reyes SD: Credited with 1 assisted tackle

Darius Butler IND: 4 solo and 4 assisted tackles and credited with a forced fumble

Sio Moore IND: No stats. I'm not even sure if he was suited up. Not surprising since he only had a week of practice after being traded.

Marcus Easley BUF: No stats.

Ryan Griffin HOU: 1 catch 18 yards

Tyson Branch KC: Credited with 1 assisted tackle

Anthony Sherman KC: 1 catch but for 0 yards.

Dwayne Gratz JAC: 2 solo tackles

Wreh-Wilson TEN: 1 solo tackle

Lansanah TB: 3 solo and 2 assisted tackles

Lansanah left the Bucs game in the 4th qtr with an ankle injury - not sure if it's serious.

Need that Geremy Davis/Byron Jones post game pic!

Ask and thou shalt receive.

UConn representin'!

If the NAFL gets going (instead of just temping Connecticut's sports fans), maybe some of the players cut could get signed to the Connecticut Colonials. The first NAFL-NFL trade...Connecticut send Detroit a player to be named later for Dan O. Wouldn't that be nice... :D

Good to see that Geremy was active.

From the little of the game I saw, he may be angling for Randle's spot.

Ryan Griffin has a grade 2 sprain of his MCL and has now been placed on IR. For those who don't know what that means, he is automatically shelved for 8 weeks--even if he is good to go after 3 or 4 weeks. He still gets paid his full salary. The bummer is that he had just cracked the starting lineup at TE. Let's hope for a full recovery and an even better future.

They have a block C, too. Using the Whalers' colors, too. WTF? Never even heard about this league. Birmingham , Orlando and Memphis get MORE teams in ANOTHER league!

Nick Williams with the nice catch and run for a first down against the Giants!

Yep, Falcons sit Julio Jones for an obvious run play...nope, pass to Nicky Wilz for the first down!
