Is that why Rudy Gobert got brought in so the center that shot 3s can be moved to the 4?

Lively and Gafford were huge parts to the Mavs run.

Hartenstein and Robinson were great on the Knicks.

I provided a list to look at. If you look at the 3 point shooting role playing centers, it’s actually THEM who are being phased out as they are in their upper 20s to 30s.
Lol, no. Gobert is a one off because he is a great defender. He is clowned outside of that for having low basketball skill.

Lively and Gafford work with a guy like Luka, not so much with most teams. And the Mavs are even touting Lively as a guy who is looking to extend his game to the 3pt line.

Hartenstein is a great defender, very good passer and has amazing touch. He wasn’t asked to be a shooter, he may be on the Thunder.

Mitch is just kinda not good, can’t stay on the floor and gets injured a ton. Not an example to use here.

Either way, you used examples of mediocre-to-good players. There’s a reason why all the best Centers have expanded their game. This is one argument you simply don’t win.

Who are these great young centers that have just 3 point shots without being overall great scorers?

Good lord, this is what you do.
I care about our guys being developed properly to maximize themselves, shoot me. Unless you’re an alien like Wemby or just have a great overall offensive game like Según, none of the successful young centers shoot. Cause it’s a tired narrative and not important.

Btw I agree the best centers expand their game. Meaning they have post moves, they have a midrange, and then they expand it to 3 point range.

Donovan has neither right now. He’s skipping steps.

So should we tell Reibe this and tell him to go elsewhere? Sheesh

Someone investing in developing a 3 ball above all else offensively has nothing to do with someone who already has it and is here to develop his game elsewhere.

One guy who did not have a good pre-season, Andre Jackson. Led the Bucks in turnovers while playing the least minutes in the rotation. Shot 20% from the field.

Wish he would’ve came back for another season. He had just started figuring out the scoring part of his game towards the end of his junior year.

Would’ve been cool to see him work on that for a summer and spend a year as the main guy scoring wise to get fully confident before making the jump.

There wouldn't have been a starting spot for him last season or if there was it would have hurt us and there was no way in hell he would've been our leading scorer. All 5 starters last season were much better scorers than him.

Cam was better than him as was Castle. I love Andre but he left at the right time for himself and for the team. He averaged 6 points per game his junior season through the Big East tournament and the NCAA tournament. He's just not a scorer.

There’s a way for it to work but I’d get killed for saying it. And it doesn’t have to do with Cam.

He did not leave at the right time for himself. He wasn’t ready.

His scoring was off of cutting, alley oops, getting out in transition, and being in the dunker spot, I didn't really see any self shot creation there and don't know what another season was going to change. Even last year with the Bucks I was seeing him passing out of open layups/dunks, for whatever reason he's just not wired to score and he needs to figure that part out. Usually with the hyper athletic wings they lack the handle to create for themselves and get to their spots but AJ doesn't lack a good handle. Best case for him is to continue to develop the corner/wing 3 to where he's at least 38%, otherwise it's hard to be a wing in the NBA with no scoring instincts or ability.

Feel like towards the end of the season we saw a lot more of him being aggressive attacking the hoop. It didn’t always work but it was a start to build on. Changing your mindset to look for your shot is something that was 100% coachable.

He went to the NBA with pretty much nothing he was comfortable doing to score. Partly because he spent almost all of his time trying to shoot 3s and nothing else but I’m beating a dead horse.

Donovan with 8/9/2 on 4-4 shooting in 11min!

He is absolutely dominating Kessler.

Sidenote: I said before the Trailblazers were a hot mess, but that is mainly their offense. Their defense is actually pretty solid so far in pre-season (eye test).

Offense will be better with a healthy Simons in the lineup

Incredibly impressive highlights. He had 10 offensive rebounds and the passing is incredible for a big man.

He is adjusting to the NBA game a lot faster than I thought. He even is showing that 3 pt range again which I guess was a super long 2 with his foot on the line. Him and Castle are going to really represent well this upcoming year for UConn.
