UConn in the NBA Nov 2025

The most solid all around NBA player UConn has produced in a long while. First tier along with Ray, RIP, Emeka and Kemba. Perhaps Rudy Gay belongs in that group as well.
Don't forget Ben Gordon either.

Dude always seems to have a basketball in his hands. He'll probably have to marry a cheerleader with his addiction.

Looks like he’s holding James Naismith’s ball.

I don't know that we've seen this same intensity since he left.

absolutely in my top 10 favorite players. Played with a chip on his shoulder. Reminds me of Dyson that way..
What I liked is that while he was fiery, most of that fire was really directed in a positive way to his teammates.

Also, loved how he went from a guy who was criticized by some, including on this board, for being a guy that couldn't be out there for most of the game because of his defense. Then, he really seemed to learned in Danny's system and embraced the challenge and his defense the last third+ of the season was pretty darn good, including the championship game.

Finally, I love seeing him out on the floor because he is not the most gifted athlete, but he drives better athletes insane because he knows how to get a shot off, how to get into position for rebounds and will do every little thing he can to simply win. I like the Dyson comparison because the first world I think about with both is... TOUGH!

All time Husky in my mind. Cam played like that old pro in the gym in a pick up game with a bunch of kids. Just smart, right positioning, great passer, great mid-range game. Bro has hopefully 10 years as a NBA player, then he comes to be a AHC at UCONN in 2035

Part of that for me was the fact that he was a surprise. I expected him to be a decent player for us, but I had no idea he would be like throwing a hand grenade at the other team.

I don't think I've ever seen another Husky be quite that consistently intense and angry on every single play no matter the score. I absolutely love the fact that he carried that with him when he got a shot in the NBA and it is a big part of him having a career there. I would love to see him on the coaching staff eventually.

I’m a day late but no UConn in the NBA yesterday. From Wednesday -

Castle: as mentioned finished with his first career triple double. 23/10/10 on 9-16. What a beast. Not to rain on the parade but I was watching that one and his 10th rebound was when the game was already over and 5 seconds left..but a triple double is a triple double! I am seconding the all star game push. I think he’s very close to being in that conversation

Liam: 11 minutes and 5 points on 1-4

AJax: had 5 garbage time minutes but 3 assists and a +9 in those minutes

Cam: high minutes off the bench in a blowout (29) but only 5 points on 1-5. 3 assists, 2 rebounds

Clingan: 9 points on 4-9 (0-4 3P), 10 rebounds, 3 blocks

Hawkins: 8 minutes, 6 points on 2-5 (2-4 3P)

G League -

Rahsool Diggins is in the G League. Played on Wednesday, 4 points and 4 assists in 14 minutes

Bouknight: 15 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 5 turnovers on 4-13 (1-6 3P)

Newton: 24 points, 11 assists on 10-24 (3-11 3P). 5 steals, 5 TO
Tenth rebound was an offensive board down by 6 that resulted in getting to the line and cutting it to 3. Would have taken a Reggie Miller type play to tie it - but game wasn’t over.

Rewatched last year's NC game vs Purdue, he was a warrior on the boards and savant in toying w/ Edey and scoring/passing in the paint....
He will outlast most of far more physically gifted dudes in the league with his smarts.

Could you imagine him with even average NBA athleticism?

I'm thinking of Castle and his suspect shooting so far. Are there any historical examples of guards who have improved their 3pt% 10 points or so? I know about bigs like Horford or Lopez, but I don't follow the league closely enough to know about any guards.

Off the top of my head I think of Marcus Smart, who became a pretty respectable shooter in Boston. Kemba started off in low 30s and his peak was almost 40%. Lu Dort couldn’t really shoot his first couple years and has been around 40% recently.

I think 10% is a stretch. Can't think of many who have made that big of a jump at high volumes. Maybe Dorian Finney-Smith? 5-6% is a lot more common.

Idk about improvements but per Wikipedia, Kobe was 32.9% from three over his career and I’ve never gotten the sense that anyone viewed him as a poor shooter.

I won't worry about j3 pt shooting as much as those mid-ranges. With his handle, he can get off anywhere he wants even at year 2. His mechanics and form are good enough, He just need more reps and confidence to go with it.
And not for nothing, he can make the clutch 3s when it counts ( 3 already by my counts).

With Steph starting to move more towards star player with the ball over role player this is starting to get less important to how good he can be.

If I were him I would continue to prioritize his 3-16’ game and get that down pat. Once he's honed that he can extend to the 3 point line just to make sure he's a threat still. SGA archetype all the way at this point.

Seeing the numbers he's putting up year 2 with his size and defense, he can honestly be better if he develops the right way.

I wonder how many things we have to watch play out in real time that I talk about beforehand before you stop this moaning and groaning.
You’re moaning and groaning, stop bringing your disdain for the 3 into every thread. It’s necessary for Steph to become at least a respectable 3pt shooter. The fact you don’t understand that leads me to believe you don’t know ball too well.

Gotta think that when you mention the name Cam Spencer around a Purdue fan it elicits a similar reaction as mentioning Bucky Dent to a Red Sox fan like myself.
Aside from the championship game, wasn't it Cam that hit a clutch 3 in the last 30 seconds to take out a then #1 Purdue while he was with Rutgers?

Whenever I see Cam I am reminded of DC telling Cam that he could stop dribbling now since they won the Natty.. He deserves all the good fortune coming his way.
