I'm not exaggerating. I was looking for my comments on Clingan taking 3s and found this and laughed. It looks like the Spurs will be going with Castle as the lead guard moving forward keeping the ball in his hands. He’s sharing ball handling with Fox, and it’s Fox’s second game. Plus, you just exaggerate everything that everyone says to make it fit into the pinhole of a point you try to make, you’re a miserable poster sometimes.
Yes, it is a good thing. He needs to shoot better, he’s being guarded by Centers at times and they’re giving him wide open shots that he misses, that hurts the team. It doesn’t cause them to lose and he does a lot more good than harm, but everyone in the world besides you apparently knows he needs to shoot better from 3. That’s why he is allowed to take ~4 per game, because the Spurs want/need him to be better.
You’re animosity towards the 3 is weird, and don’t ever suggest I doubt how good Steph can be. Don’t be a pr**k.
I was talking about Clingan taking the 3s he takes at the volume he's taking them. To the point it's almost half his attempts as he struggles to score in the paint.
Of course Steph should shoot better from 3. But I'm more worried about him continuing to develop his 3 level scoring. Even if a center does decide to guard him he can take a few dribbles down to the elbow and pull it from there. I'd love to see him get that shot down ho to a 50% clip. If he can do that that's when he can play the SGA drawing fouls and opening up even more drives to the basket game.
SGA and Cade shoot about 50% of their shots from 3ft-3point line (midrange). Steph is currently at about 30%. Would like to see that number go up. Especially with the spacing on the floor the Spurs have for him.
He's also shooting 34% from 3-10 feet which isn't great. Surprisingly is shooting 58% and 50% from 10-16 and 16-3P. Definitely would like to see that 3-10 feet range go up to take advantage of his size.
It's not that I hate the 3. I just hate that it's talked about as the only thing that matters offensively to how good a player can be and it's the first thing that's talked about in regards to what a player needs to work on. When for high level players it should be the last thing.
