UConn in the NBA Nov 2025

He had the primary assignment - but Spurs schemed and switched a lot. Doncic was 2-10 with Castle on him.

His turnovers were a subject in the press conference, though. It was a step back for him after decent ball security the last two games. He’s now at 40 assists and 35 turnovers for the year, which has to get better. When Fox and Harper are back, they can take the ball out of his hands more and reduce his role on offense.

What is the deal with the turnovers? Is it losing off dribble, lazy passes, over aggressive passes? This is a lot of turnovers.

From what I've seen it's mostly lazy passes. Not even him trying to force things, it's just stupid minor stuff that needs to be cleaned up. Not unexpected from someone who hasn't been a primary point guard.

Those things should be relatively easy to clean up with film study. Much easier to fix than getting your pocket picked because of a loose handle

Wouldn’t be surprised if the Spurs have purposefully took their time bringing Fox back to see what they had with Steph at the position.

Fox has been playing 5-5 since before the season started.

Will De'Aaron Fox play against the Los Angeles Lakers?

Fox definitely appears to be ready to play and has been playing five-on-five since before the start of the regular season.

Like, some REALLY terrible passes. He really didn’t do much of this last season. One cross court stolen by Luka was baddd, one just super lazy at the top of the key was an easy steal. I think he struggles sometimes with locking in on one target and can’t quickly enough process the second option. Improvement will come.

Castle needs the ball in his hands to improve. That should be the focus of the Spurs, not getting the ball out of his hands. The goal should be to make him an all-NBA player. For now, live with his mistakes. It will pay off in the long run.

Harper also needs the ball in his hands to improve - they drafted him too. Fox is perceived as a grizzled veteran, but he's only 27 - still has 5 or 6 years of his prime to go. How he factors in still remains to be seen.

The goal for the Spurs should be to build a championship team around Wemby. Where Castle fits in that blueprint is up to how he performs and how he best fits in that puzzle. Castle will play a lot - that's not an issue. He's averaging 20 ppg and taking the toughest defensive assignments. But they don't have to let him play through mistakes with the ball if their future blueprint for success involves someone else having it.

They already have a championship contending roster if Wemby remains healthy this season, Castle is the Robin to his Batman. Having Castle handle as much as possible is how they can contend. There's really no answer for a 7'5 freak and a strong explosive 6'6 point guard. Castle doesn't always have to be responible for initiating offense and can play off the ball but playing through his growing pains as he's on the ball is their best move IMO.

Defensively he is robin for sure, people are very quick to dismiss Fox but he is an elite PG. Castle has been shooting better but he needs to keep working on that, he won’t have the ball as much in a couple weeks. But, it’s great for the Spurs to have 3 superb options to run the offense. I assume Mitch Johnson will likely keep 2 of them on the floor pretty much at all times, it is going to be a very fun team to watch.
