Yesterday (Jan 1) NBA -
  • Drummond - 10 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists
  • Hawkins - 8 points, 4 rebounds, 2 blocks on 3-9 (2-5 3P)
  • Tyrese - 2 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists on 1-4
G League -
  • Newton - 22 points, 8 assists, 4 rebounds on 9-19 (2-6 3P) right before he got waived lol
  • Bouknight - 11 points, 6 assists, 4 rebounds, 2 blocks on 4-11 (0-4 3P)

this ROY race is wide open, with Clingan's situation and the knee injury taking the wind out of sails he's out. Castle also has to deal with guys ahead of being back and healthy so he might fall behind a bit too but there's still plenty of season left. funny that this board was taking a victory lap about Sarr over summer league games, he's actually pretty good.

Edey missed about a month to injury but he’s played REALLY well too. Averaging 11/8, 60% from the field and 43% on about 1 3PA per game

Tristen was picked by the T Wolves

Very strange pickup. They are loaded in the backcourt (Conley/Ant/DiVincenzo) and already have a lot of rookie talent (Dillingham/TSJ). Their G League team is also loaded at guard - Daishen Nix averages 22 a game. Trevor Keels averages 18

Not sure what the move here is but I'll definitely be following the team now!

Conley's cooked, Dillingham is undersized and nowhere near ready, and none of the other guys you mentioned are point guards. Except Nix, who they released to make room for Tristen.

There's a path to playing time here if he can perform.

They're pretty terrible at guard. Hope Tristen performs.

Yesterday NBA:
  • Castle: 15 minutes, 10 points, 3 assists on 4-10 (1-4 3P)
  • Cam: 12 minutes, 7 points on 3-4 (0-1 3P)
  • Clingan: 13 minutes, 4 points, 5 rebounds, 1 block on 2-5 (0-1 3P)
  • Andre: 14 minutes, 6 points, 4 assists, 3 rebounds, 2 steals on 3-4
G League:
  • Polley: 10 minutes but scoreless on 0-4 (0-3 3P)
  • Sanogo: 13 points, 13 rebounds on 6-12 (0-1 3P)

Just Hawkins in the NBA last night. 6 points on 2-10 shooting (2-7 3P), yet somehow was +17 in 12 minutes. He’s majorly fallen off as the season went on. Now averaging 11.2 PPG on 35% FG and 32% 3P on the season

And just Bouknight in the G League, 13 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists on 4-12 (1-4 3P)

Busy day today though. Clingan, Drummond, Tyrese, Andre, Castle, maybe Newton and maybe Cam depending on which roster they’re with. Adama, Bouknight, and Polley in the G League

Tyrese started tonight, third of his career, and the dude's becoming a real NBA player. Not just energy and physicality, but he's had a couple of very nice moments attacking close-outs and finding shooters on the perimeter.

He's gonna stick around, I think. Could end up being a 9th-10th man on a good team if he keeps shooting 36% from 3, which is his mark so far on the season.

Really nice story for a guy who's kind of forgotten among our fanbase a little bit.

Yesterday NBA -
  • Castle: 10 points, 6 assists, 4-9 FG (1-2 3P)
  • Cam: 3 points on 1-3 3P shooting
  • Tyrese (starting!): 15 points, 5 rebounds, 6-12 FG (1-3 3P)
  • Andre: 5 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 blocks on 2-3 FG (1-2 3P)
  • Clingan: 4 points, 5 rebounds on 2-6 FG (0-1 3P)
G League -
Adama: 16 points, 7 rebounds, 2 blocks on 7-10 FG (1-2 3P)
Polley: no stats in 5 minutes (0-1 3P)
Bouknight: 28 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists on 10-14 FG (5-7 3P). Wow!

Spurs are better with Castle starting and/or getting more than 25 minutes. They have lost a few winnable games with him sitting the bench

Worried about Hawkins place in the league. He has below average handles and below average defense for a 2 guard in the league. His role in the NBA is shooting and he's not good at shooting. He seems to be dealing with back problems which I'm sure is impacting his shot. The numbers are just ugly in what was supposed to be a big second season for him. He's way below the league average on threes shooting only 32% and he's the second worst fg shooter in the entire NBA.

I was at the game Friday. He sat at the far end of the bench, wasn't interacting with the team too much. Had a back brace on when he wasn't on the floor. During the second half he looked to be in some discomfort - his right arm hanging limp several times. He did have a chase down block that lead to a steal to a breakaway dunk that got the crowd on their feet...

When was the last time a college team had 4 of it's players leave and play in the NBA in the same year. Maybe a Kentucky team?

Number of Kentucky players that went to NBA

2024 - 4
2023 - 4
2022 - 3
2021 - 3
2020 - 4
2019 - 3
2018 - 5
2017 - 6
2016 - 5

Number of final fours in that span - 0
In 2015 they had 7 players leave and go to the NBA, and that team did make it to the final four. Meanwile, UConn and Nova each won the whole enchalada twice.
