Steph is beasting on D though.

I always mean to and then forget, but I was looking at the moneyline when they were down 13 in the 2nd Q and it was +300 something, I meant to do it and of course I didn't. They're now up 7 and really frustrating Houston.

Coach has put Steph on Sengun and Durant all night, let him body them and deny ball then put Wemby on help side when they get it. It's worked really well.

His strength is so impressive. KD can’t move him and Sengun, who moves everybody, has struggled to move Steph. The switch you described to Wemby guarding Thompson was a great move by Mitch, Houston scored 37 in the second half. Insane.

I love Steph playing PG because he can have 16 points and shoot 2 threes and still be considered to have had an outstanding game because of the way he created for others and locked up defensively.

He’s exactly the type of winning PG you’d want leading your team. I hope the Spurs move Fox for a high level wing scorer for him to feed.

Franz Wagner is right there and the Magic need a PG.

0 reason to trade Fox, like very pointless. They are the 2nd seed in the West and Fox is a big reason why. They need wing shooting, Wagner is not a good shooter. Trade Sochan and picks/salaries for a shooter. Fox is a winning player.

They started out as one of the top teams in the West even when Fox was out for the beginning of the year.

I agree it’d probably help to get a high level scorer that can shoot. The only ones available that come to mind are Lavine and Murphy. But neither spot would need Fox.

Fox is great. But there’s no reason to give up a size advantage defensively and play 2 PGs at once when you can bring in someone who can score even better than Fox while being able to be better defensively and give the Spurs more size. And be a natural fit with Castle in general.

Brandon Miller and Shaedon Sharpe would also be ideal 2s that fit the Spurs timeline. But don’t see where the need for Fox would be on those rosters either and Miller especially might be untouchable.

They aren’t at a size disadvantage lol. Steph has guarded 1-5 this year. Fox is 6’4 and strong. Fox is perfect next to Steph because he takes some responsibility off of him and can pass, shoot and drive.

The obvious thing to do is to trade the dead weight that Sochan is, package Olynyk and a pick or something for a wing shooter/scorer and have Barnes come off the bench. They are a great team, trading an All-Star level player in his prime would be so silly.

Spurs are going to have a dynasty with these guys. Any talk of them not fitting together or Fox doesn't fit the timeline is ridiculous, their timeline is right now. Fox just turned 28 and plays both guard positions. Castle is a point but he's one of the most positionally versatile players in the league. Their guards create so many problems for teams and they're anchored by a 7'5 freak.

Castle was awesome in this game..some of his defensive possessions against Durant were special

You’d trade Fox for Sharpe?

He’s currently averaging more than Fox at 22 years old and is one of the most physically gifted two way players at his position.

Him and Steph in the same backcourt would be nightmares for opposing guards defensively and showtime on the other end.

Play their cards right and they may mess around and be able to put together a package to get Grant, too. Depending on how much everyone is valued. But the Spurs pretty much have the assets to get anybody.

Come on man. Replacing Fox with Sharpe would make the Spurs significantly worse. And going into the playoffs with 3 guards 22 or younger with 0 playoff experience or success is a recipe for disaster. At least put a realistic trade scenerio together.

Showtime ≠ success or wins.

I’ll give you this, your takes are unique.

I can’t think of anyone that considers Sharpe better than Fox or a great defensive presence or really much beyond a streaky volume scorer. He’s got potential but I think that would be a disaster trade and I don’t know anyone that follows pro basketball that would co-sign that trade.

Not being “snarky” I’m just shocked.

The other aspect is giving the reins to Steph and Harper for the playoffs. I think having Fox around gives them someone they know can handle the big moments. Regardless of how you think of Steph’s future I dno that he’s ready for that yet.

What kind of playoff experience does Fox have to show that he’s ready for the big moments?

Sharpe would be at the absolute bottom of all the names I threw out there. But it’s a consideration. I just think the purpose of having Steph is for your team to have a competitive advantage with a jumbo guard on the floor.

Fox kind of takes that away and there’s just so many better options for guards to put next to Steph who are better scorers and would help him be the competitive advantage he’s suppose to be. Only reason to think otherwise is if you don’t really trust or believe Steph can handle PG by himself.
