UConn in the NBA - April

You could have easily just skipped over it and posted your Castle thoughts instead of being an annoying (redacted) but based on the fact I usually cringe when I see you in my alerts it must be in your blood
Lol someone is strung way too tight. I will place you on ignore so I don't have to read your unrelated Celtics drivel and irrationally emotional responses. I suggest you do the same, "ACE".

Last words: maybe start your own "NBA PLAYOFFS" thread instead of being an inconsiderate jerk posting your Celtics takes in the UCONN IN THE NBA thread.

He also fouled out with 4.5 minutes to go, with some really bad fouls (especially the last FT box out). I appreciate that he's upped his playoff intensity, but he lost a little of his discipline IMO.
He also got a couple lame fouls called on him. If the game were closer, I bet he would have locked in more. But it was pretty much a blowout the whole game.
I'm sure he'll step it up next series.

I hate to say it, but the Blazers in the playoffs have been better with Robert Williams than with Clingan.

I think it's good he has added a 3 pointer to his game, but yeah he should be practicing more near the basket. He does not have to be like Tim Duncan, Hakeem Olajuwon, or Kareem. If he adds a hook shot, utilizes the drop step more, and does more rim running, just simple thngs, that would do wonders for him. First thing he needs to do when the Blazers get eliminated is to try to go to Pete Newell Big Man camp. I think that is for pros as well as college basketball players. Or go to Hakeem Olajuwon's camp or tutoring.

Clingan has had a good year this year, but he has been lousy in the playoffs. I am confident he will get better and learn from this.
Yeah there’s just no reason for over 50% of his shots to come from 3 like he’s Jayson Tatum.

This is what happens when a 7’ spends all season practicing something he has a 30% chance of making and nothing else.
You were waiting all year to say that. Feelin' good now?

No. I do not like when our players aren’t getting the most out of their game because they get bad advice. It’s very frustrating and I just want what’s actually best for them.

Like Castle being able to play his pure PG position and shine because of it despite people saying he should’ve been okay playing an off ball role. Couldn’t be happier seeing him shine at his proper position not worrying about if he can shoot a 40% 3 to be good.

Cade has had 8, 9, and 7 turnovers this playoffs. It happens as the lead ballhandler and is natural.
Sure….just saying he’s had turnover issues that he needs to figure out. Especially in the playoffs against better teams….

I mean LeBron just had 7-8 turnovers the last game. Loose handle happens even to the best of them. Won't be able to TO the ball that much against OKC though and expect to win.

I’m not sure why you guys are bringing in other players to this lol. Just made a statement about Steph. He’s top-5 in the league in turnovers, we can agree that isn’t great right? He’s top 10 in assists which is very good, in case you wanted to make a statement about that.

He was actually 9th in a category where the top 5 is Luka, Cade, Jokic, Deni, and Jaylen Brown. Pretty much 4 of the top 5 MVP candidates there.

It’s not that big of a deal as all the top guys have turnover problems.

Fair, but he had the highest turnover % of all those guys, 2nd most in the top-10 behind Russ.

It’s okay to say it is a bit of an issue. They are mostly solvable plays. He gets tunnel vision time to time.

Exactly, handle the ball more = more opportunities to cough it up. That being said, you'd want to see the TO count no more than 3 or 4. 7+ is definitely too many no matter how much you handle the ball.

It’s a small issue that’s fixable with time. And even then he can be a considered one of the best ever like Jokic and Lebron and still have them. It’s not really worth harping on like you do any time he has them. He can be one of the top players in the league while still having turnover issues unless he’s super next level like SGA.

It’s okay to be critical of guys you like. I watch nearly every Spurs game, and I do this because I love Steph. This isn’t the “Blind adoration of UConn in the NBA” thread.

When he makes great plays, I say that. When he has great games, I say that. When he makes boneheaded plays, I say that. Just like I do with DC, etc. Nowhere in my posts about him have I said he can’t become a top player.

Can't even believe you're discussing what happened in the last Lakers/Rockets game in the UCONN IN THE NBA thread.
I'm assuming you're post is at least slightly tongue in cheek, but my LeBron comment was in response to someone saying players being heavy on-ball often have high TO counts like Castle has. I was just bringing up LeBron as an example of a player that handles the ball a lot, and that even the best of them have trouble with TO's, like Castle has the past few games.

I'm not bringing up the Celtics out of the blue with 0 link to UConn players like this is an NBA PLAYOFFS discussion thread like the guy above.

I watch enough NBA to know that all teams need at least a few very good rebounders, especially if you can get 3-4 offensive rebounds a game. So I think there is a role for Tarris in the NBA. Adama was just to small 6’7” maybe. Reed is a legitimate 6’10” and as he continues to focus on his conditioning he will only be better. If you go back and watch he went from dunking nothing the first three months of the season to dunking anything he could by the end. He was like Mullins never 100% healthy all year imo.

I also find it confusing that Ejifor is a second round pick. I see the physicality of the playoffs and he looks like he is ready now. And I hate St Johns but I don’t get why players like Reed and Ejifor are so solidly in round 2.

The “No defense in the NBA” crowd isn’t looking so good. Teams are scoring 8.3 ppg less in the playoffs than they did in the regular season.

And even throwing stats out of the window, as a viewer overall defense has been pretty incredible.

You're making up what people complain about. People say it's a different game in the playoffs. That's always been the case. Players don't sit out like they do during the regular season, players play much harder, tough defense is actually played.

It was the highest scoring season in the NBA in over 55 years, more teams tanked than ever before, load management is a huge problem etc.
