UConn in the NBA - April

haha I disagree, I just posted how I loved it.

Not necessarily that I loved he got into it, but he barely did anything. He got hacked 5x on one play and finished an and 1 by placing the ball on the dude - he was waiting to explode and that's what Steph creates.

I love the silent agitator, it's not his problem he's frustrating to play against.
That sequence shows not only how great the 2024 UConn team was, but also what was missing from this very good 2026 UConn team. Avdija was hounding Castle with relentless pressure full court defense and Castle handled it masterfully with his ball handling and made Avdija and Camara pay for it by taking it to the basket for the And-1. Castle wasn't phased by the in-your face pressure defense. Newton wasn't phased by it either and Spencer was sometimes, but for the most part was not either. All 3 guys were great ball handlers, high IQ players, great passers, and didn't allow pressure defense to make them uncomfortable or speed them up.

Looks like Splitter pulled the plug on these DC minutes after the latest clanked 3
6 of his 10 shots were 3s. And he’s losing minutes to a guy that doesn’t shoot outside of 3’.

That doesn't mean what you think it means.

I can't write the word, but I figured you knew what I meant. Bad arse?

I dno, he wasn't being obnoxious and going crazy, he was calmly talking his smack, he literally didn't speak a word. I have no issue with it after AND1 up 20.

Eh, Castle gets T'd for lightly putting the ball in Dev's chest after a hard and one on Dev. I've seen worse.

That 24 team was a pack of dogs. Cam & Steph will be the best BA duo we'll ever see.
The technical was a way to keep things from escalating especially during competitive play offs. It is not the force used by Castle, but a respect thing. Those NBA guys are big on it. You do not have to look far with Jokic’s response at the end of the other game. But yes, the 24 team had lots of grit.

Usually I can figure out the acronyms but I have no idea what BA means here

I didn't even see Clingan step 1 football inside the paint in the last game, ya have him take 3s but stop using him as only a 3 pt shooter. The feel good story with Tiago Splitter is over now.

Not sure what this has to do with UConn in the NBA but whatever.

Castle with a hot start, 4-5 from the field.
You could have easily just skipped over it and posted your Castle thoughts instead of being an annoying (redacted) but based on the fact I usually cringe when I see you in my alerts it must be in your blood

The Cs are playing against Drummond, so it’s tangentially relevant. I’ll allow it.

embarrassing

If he spent the amount of time working on shots in the paint as he did 3s, I’m sure he’d be more successful there.

Instead a large chunk of his game is dedicated to a shot he has a very low chance of making before anything else.

I hate to say it, but the Blazers in the playoffs have been better with Robert Williams than with Clingan.

I think it's good he has added a 3 pointer to his game, but yeah he should be practicing more near the basket. He does not have to be like Tim Duncan, Hakeem Olajuwon, or Kareem. If he adds a hook shot, utilizes the drop step more, and does more rim running, just simple thngs, that would do wonders for him. First thing he needs to do when the Blazers get eliminated is to try to go to Pete Newell Big Man camp. I think that is for pros as well as college basketball players. Or go to Hakeem Olajuwon's camp or tutoring.

Clingan has had a good year this year, but he has been lousy in the playoffs. I am confident he will get better and learn from this.

Lousy is an understatement - like you said, next step for him is learning some finesse in and around the paint. He’s generally one gear.
