If you said Stu could give us the 8th for 1 run I’d have taken it in a heartbeat. They really don’t like having to use Afthim for more than one inning, and my guess is with Quinn not available tonight they didn’t want to use anyone else.

What an effort by each of the three UConn pitchers we’ve used to date. These are two teams we’re playing against who can hit against high level pitchers.

Three more outs to go.

Quinn is unavailable tonight per Penders post game yesterday. 1-0 I think you see afhtim In the 8th. 4-0 they rolled the dice and got away with it.

Other than the strikeouts today, I haven’t hated the offense. We’re hitting the ball hard and these teams are playing good defense. Gonna need to up the offense to a gear we haven’t seen yet this year to play in Omaha though. 1 more inning!

Not sure a 2 inning save was ever in play with Afthim.

Not crazy about leaving Quigley in against the heart of the order.

Bear down and close it Quigley, get tough

Quinn was dealing yesterday, but you lock in your closer in the 9th.

Top 9th, S. Quigley walks the leadoff batter. Quigley comes out of the game, Afthim takes the mound. Quigley threw 124 pitches, so hardly a surprise that he came out of the game.

I’d like to know how much those pitches were missing (if at all)

Ump squeezing where their pitcher got strikes last inning. He'll have to be perfect.
