Getting 8 innings of 1 run ball in these regionals is MASSIVE. Let’s get a little more cushion here

Some deep flys that inning but we only give up 1 run. In college baseball, never walking anyone or committing errors is typically…critical.

If you said Stu could give us the 8th for 1 run I’d have taken it in a heartbeat. They really don’t like having to use Afthim for more than one inning, and my guess is with Quinn not available tonight they didn’t want to use anyone else.

What an effort by each of the three UConn pitchers we’ve used to date. These are two teams we’re playing against who can hit against high level pitchers.

Other than the strikeouts today, I haven’t hated the offense. We’re hitting the ball hard and these teams are playing good defense. Gonna need to up the offense to a gear we haven’t seen yet this year to play in Omaha though. 1 more inning!

Top 9th, S. Quigley walks the leadoff batter. Quigley comes out of the game, Afthim takes the mound. Quigley threw 124 pitches, so hardly a surprise that he came out of the game.
