UConn hosts Texas 11/14 6:30 pm ET FS1

30 is way too much. I watched them play their last game and honestly I thought we were a little sloppy. They were almost twice as bad. They said they will be better tonight and I believe them. From what I saw, they can’t beat us but it won’t be a complete blowout. We pull away late for a 20 point win is the most I can see us winning by with them never really threatening to beat us unless we are a complete disaster.
 
Texas is 0-9 in games against UConn & knows that they're the underdogs coming into Storrs to play.
In Bri's pre-game report, Geno called it a stress test.

I just got through posting in the other thread that Vic is an absolute master of mucking up a game and confounding a better offense. Folks brazenly predicting a blowout just haven't been paying attention to his coaching.

It's reminiscent of the Tennessee football fans predicting they'd beat Georgia by 50 :eek:

Yeah. I don't see a blow out in this one. I see a close game, with us (UConn) winning. I think I predicted something like 74-68, UConn and that is pretty high scoring affair. It might be a 68-60 type game.

THAT sounds a lot more reasonable than a 30+ mov. For UConn to get it up to 30, Texas would have to suffer a complete collapse in the 2nd half.

Oddly, I'm more confident about the other side, that we hold Texas to 60 or less. Scoring has always been their struggle, and it won't get any easier against us.

Here's a side question: how many steals will each team get? I'll put the over-under at 14 and that we get 9. Our steals will come at the perimeter or in transition and theirs will come in the paint. They pack the paint and are very active in there, and we'll outrun them on every loose ball.

Will they manage to contain Azzi and Lou? It's not inconceivable, but without Harmon I don't think they have the backcourt athletes to do it. Those two shoot so well, it's not enough to be long and quick. You have to be longer and a lot quicker to compensate for their shooting.

I'll put the O/U at 2 regarding Azzi and Lou combining for 50 or more and then only against teams like Butler or possibly DePaul due to pace of play for the latter team. A big factor is that CD and Aubrey will be taking up minutes from Lou once she (CD) is healthy. If we are in a blowout game Azzi and Lou might not play enough minutes, giving way to Ines among others.

Having said this I am hoping to be way wrong since I love the way both Azzi and Lou play. Love to see the 50 pt combo 8-10 times.

Wow, that is unexpected. Against a #3 ranked team. let's hope the bookies know what they are talking about, although I'm surprised there is even a line on the game given the unknown status of Harmon and Caroline.

I watched Texas play on YouTube and tho they are tall,they did not play as a unit. A lot of misdirected passes and poor shooting in the first 2 quarters. We should have a field day with this team. They did not deserve their No. 3 rank. when we beat them we will replace them as No.3 I believe if we use a full court press from the start of the game, it will be all over by halftime. GO HUSKIES!!!

I also watched that game. Texas looked very disorganized. Turn overs, bad shots and I think they can be pressed. The only bright spot I saw for them was the big girl, she can play. Not sure why they are ranked 3rd, and I will be very disappointed, if Uconn looses. One other key, don't how you keep Vic from running up and down the side line, yelling at the refs. I hope we are right, Next 12

Currently out of 95 predictions there are only 8 that have UConn winning by 20+ or more and @Bone Dog is the only one prognosticating a 30+ win.

While I’m fairly confident we will win, I will be shocked if the mov is more than 10-12! This guy (Vic) is a defensive specialist who finds ways to disrupt even the best offense. To be honest, This game makes me nervous and is certainly imo, not the lock/potential blowout some on here are predicting. How about let’s just win and not worry about the differential? I hope I’m wrong but we’ll see in about 4 1/2 hours. I’m excited because I’m hoping to actually watch the game live this time!
 
Oddly, even with the news that Harmon is likely out, the spread has moved from UConn -9, down to UConn -8 since this morning. Either way, that sounds about right to me. Too bad we can't bet on them in state!

I agree.
Lotta passes that, against a more formidable opponent, would have been stolen.
I’m pretty sure Geno, Azzi and the Gnat won’t allow an entitled approach.
Curious to see how Azzi wields her dagger tonight- 3’s, floaters or cutting and finishing.
How about giving the 3’s to Lou, and slicing and dicing?

Lines are based on public perception, not analysis. The experts all would make Texas a 2 pt favorite at UConn and a 6 pt favorite at home. But those experts never risk losing anything on their opinions. :rolleyes:

I find over time the lines set by Vegas to be much more accurate than anything said by "experts". Again, as you say, Vegas has something to lose if they get the line wrong. "Experts" don't.
 
No Rori Harmon ...Uconn wins by 10+ . Texas looked terrible without Rori against louisana it was tough to watch .
