UConn Highlights: Stanley Robinson Dunks

Thanks Tcf15 you’ve done incredible work over the years but I feel bad for you. Like the coal industry or selling dvds all the work has dried up. Maybe this year you could do a video of possessions we didn’t turn the ball over or inbound passes that weren’t stolen.

I just watched it again....Stanley had swagger, attitude, brute force, and so much intensity in his game. The guy screamed his D**k off everytime he tried to rip the rim off the backboard. We haven't had ANYONE with these attributes come to Storrs since. Bazz had clutch gene but everyone since has wildly underwhelmed. Look at him and look at the current roster. WE ARE SO SOFT.

That dunk against Providence around the 2:00 minute mark...probably my favorite dunk ever but Sticks, Rudy, et al. certainly gave us a goldmine to choose from over the years. It's startling to see the difference between the personnel we used to bring in and who we have now. No disrespect to our current crop but damn, we were intimidating and powerful! Thanks tcf.

There is no comparison between Sticks and our PFs from Deandre to today. BUT, to say his game was as good as we thought it should be? There were a lot of people here who were underwhelmned by the entirety of his career at UConn. That being said, he showed what kind of player he was on the biggest stage (f4).

A collection of some of Stanley's best dunks from his freshman, sophomore, junior and senior seasons.

Sticks was insane... that was great to watch. Nice post!

Adrien's face around 5:53 says it all haha

Also that rebound dunk around 2:20 was absolutely filthy

Won't have another dunker like this one for a long time, if ever

No way we shouldn’t of made the tournament his senior year. Kemba Dyson Stanley Edwards was good. Oriakhi.

Watched it again!

At 11:19 vs. Cincy...That steal, dribble down the court, leap/jump-stop into the lane, and posterization of the guy he originally stole it from was a thing of beauty...

was that the year we got beat by St Johns at the garden in the big east tournament in the first game?

I think we were in the top 10 a big chunk of the season but got womped by a crazy good Big East.

Stanley had a dunk at Indiana, might have been his freshman year, where he came down the lane, grabbed a rebound and threw it down. The Indiana students sitting under the basket just sat with a stunned look on their faces. Stanley was also a pretty good shooter.

Never became the player he could have or should have been, but man could he fly ...

And as others have said, he brought an anger and intensity to his dunks that made them that much dirtier.

There are a couple of Stanley Robinson videos on vimeo, but I hesitate to put a link up without a warning to turn you sound off before playing them, as they are set to some of the weirdest and least appropriate music to ever be applied to a basketball video.

The music's not as awful in this one from whatever foreign league he was playing in in 2016. But Hoops international apparently just put in Stanley clips from various playoff games in random, mixed order, so you pretty much have no idea what's going on, other than Stanley appears to be the best player on the floor. His team won the championship, and he was MVP.

We'd all give our left nut to have a player of Stanley's caliber be considered "what we expected" or "did he live up to expectations?" on current roster or going forward.

bump - awesome video of UConn dominanceI hope he has made some bank!

I seem to recall that in his junior year NCAA playoffs he was well hyped as a first rounder, and then his senior year fell off a bit. Anyway, thanks Stanley for the huge UConn highlights.
